Added a new filter to the AP #1 Game Results page for games vs the previous season's National Champion: collegepollarchive.com/footb… According to this research, today's @oregonfootball game at @UMichFootball is the 19th overall and just the fourth where the previous champ was NR.

That's what I'm seeing. Only Top 5 teams to drop completely out of rankings (all in the preseason poll): #2 Iowa 2024-25 #4 Nebraska 2010-11 #4 CS Fullerton 1977-78 #5 Xavier 2011-12 Only Top 10 to drop out during regular season was #10 Green Bay in Week 1 of 2012-13 season.

The one and only time the Big 8 actually had that many teams ranked was the Nov. 16, 1976 poll. Oklahoma was the highest ranked at #10. The Kansas teams were the only ones left out although the Jayhawks had been ranked as high as #8 in early October. collegepollarchive.com/footb…
