I strongly recommend no one buy directly from @CARDSMITHS_ September would be a year since I did a preorder. Then they kept delaying it. So I finally forced a cancellation, but I that doesn't mean they sent the money back. 15 days later no funds credited and they ghost me.

They are now moving the release to August/September. If you think waiting for PSA or Fanatics is bad, try ordering from @CARDSMITHS_ They aren't honest. June 23rd I was told it would still be sent by end of June. They didn't know June 23 that it was delayed...again?

@CARDSMITHS_ started out strong, but they are no longer a valid company to buy from in my opinion. My daughter is a huge Wednesday fan. Thought this would be a good gift, but now we are coming up to a year since ordering and the release keeps shifting.

Decided to open a 2005 Topps Chrome Series 2 box. As soon as I cut the plastic, I realized I should have kept it closed. But 21 years later this card was released from it's packaging, and made the rip totally worth it.

"Always" is a POV word. For this person it may have "always" been gambling. But not universally true Topps Now is a good case study. 2016 Topps Now there was no chase. You got what you paid for. It sold to collectors and flippers. Now with chases. PR are higher due to gamblers.

It’s always been a casino. Opening packs is no different than scratching a lottery ticket. Hook the kids early and call it a “hobby”. Breaks are also gambling with a different format and a little support group. All of it should be regulated & taxed like gambling.

They aren't the same card. They are 2 different versions of the same card. I have always preferred the version in the SGC holder. So that is the one I would choose.
Which copy would you rather have? 💰 SGC 5.5: $207,400 💰 PSA 5: $200,100

Reminder. Companies don't grade cards. Individuals hired by a company grade cards. There is always a human involved that interprets the standards of the company. Anyone that has worked for any company recognizes that not every employee holds to the same standards or work ethic.
“ our grading standards have not changed”

Exactly what a player goes through so card companies can make "player worn" relic cards.
So which jersey did you go with at the proshop? "Yes."

Well now it is sold. And still not fixed. Hope the buyer knows they purchased a wrong labeled card. @natsturner @PSAcard
Oops @PSAcard messed this one up by labeling it as a True Photo. Good thing it looks like it is still in a PSA facility and should be easily fixed. ebay.us/m/WxVxdR @natt

My son typically opens cards (MTG or One Piece) and goes right to a collection tracker to see values. Today he opened some cards. I asked if he had anything good. "I don't know" "I thought you always looked up value" "Yeah, but Iam trying to not do that and just enjoy it"

Haha Same guy through history. If it didn't come with tobacco then they aren't legit cards/If they don't come with caramels they aren't legit/ If they aren't a promotion they aren't legit/If they don't come with gum they aren't legit/If they aren't in packs they aren't legit.

Topps now is a novelty, not a legitimate card.

When we go to Sacramento A’s games @athletics , I bring a few autographed Jacob cards to give to any kids we see wearing A’s #5. Today, Sister Jaidyn got her first assignment of the season

@topps True Photo parallels really are a simple idea, but may be my favorite parallel of modern sets. It lets the photography stand out and speak for itself. It can make an otherwise common card very visually appealing. 2024 Topps Craig Kimbrel #590 True Photo

You. You are the best breaker. Break your own cards. Open your own packs. No one will do it better than you do and you will enjoy it more (as long as your expectations are set appropriately).
Who is the best breaker in the world?

Max truly thinks he is unique and that investing is a modern mindset. It has always been around in the hobby. He really is still just a child saying childish things. Investors throw cards in the trash for having no value. Collectors dig them out and treasure them.
You can love me or hate me But I am very, very good at this whole “buying and selling cards” thing And pretty rock solid, but not masterful, at the “holding modern cards that appreciate” one too I promise you I mostly know what I’m talking about, as I live it.

My 12 yo never cared for baseball cards, only pokemon. He saw my Collins drum transfer back and was intrigued. I pulled out some more printing flaws. The 1982 Kmart misprint as was one of his favorite. The crazier the better. There is something for everyone in collecting.

It's true, Kids really do say the dumbest things. This is just stupid. I don't know if I have heard a dumber take on vintage collecting ever. Problem with immature children like him is they don't understand collectors. He conflates investing with collecting.
Honestly the older vintage collectors will never have the adaptability to understand modern

The 2018 Topps Now Player's Weekend Ohtani has been on a surge lately (relative to his other 2018 Topps Now). I the population is high enough to have sales to track but still low enough to be desirable.

I understand this logic, but what gets me is that T206 gets every back called out. Yet sets like T205, t202, T207, don't. There are many prewar sets with easily identifiable variations that are ignored. Oldcardboard is a pretty solid checklist resource if you need one.
because manufacturer defined variations are very different from variations that the community wants to see recognized but weren't intentionally produced that way originally by the manufacturer
