Patrick Stewart's entire body of work, but as Picard in particular, is something that connects the person I am today with who I was as a kid. It collapses time for me. I still have the same awe and fascination with his performance and belief that it represents the best of us.

If this was written by a woman 95% of the post would be about relationship drama and would only mention the size difference as a throw-away comment rather than provide a millimeter-accurate measurement of a penis.

Very fascinating because there were people (from China and abroad) claiming China didn't suffer from problems like "political correctness" and didn't indulge political shibboleths.

2020 there was a major polling miss and Trump was on the ballot. 2014 was a Republican year and she was already polling 20+ points better than Bellows who was DOA long before election day. realclearpolling.com/polls/s…

Most customers are going to want more than one key and you (or the customer) want the ability to revoke one or more of them. Way easier to just throw your API keys into a database and have it every incoming request against an in-memory cache.

In fact she says AIDS killed not only a generation of artists but people who understood & appreciated art, which has had a direct effect on culture. (On the economics of NYC, too.) She didn’t invent this. Sarah Schulman says similar, as do friends of mine who lived through it. 🧵
Because she is more interested in being a socialite than writing, Fran Lebowitz’s career fell off. To rationalize this, she made up a theory that AIDS specifically targeted the smart, cool gay guys. If you think about what this says about living elder gays, it’s really rancid.

This, like many issues, is downstream from real estate being very expensive.

Nah I've definitely had to shift through 400 dogshit tech resumes from people completely unqualified for a role.

How out-of-touch/bubbled do you need to not understand that would go over like a lead balloon. Mike Rogers isn't even a particularly compelling Republican figure - just a Trump lackey.

None of these guys are blue collar so they don't understand most guys in the trades straight-up lie about how much they make or just gently fib by saying their entire household income.

The course of world history would be different if Al Gore had won in 2000 but, even more important than that, America would have had its first "Halloween President"
If I was president I would 100% lose my party the midterms because I'm too busy being locked in decorating the White House for Halloween. My opponents would say "All the president cares about is his scary animatronics" and they'd be right.

The new argument seems to just be quibbling over how many billions/trilions these companies will ultimately be worth - far removed from the days of claiming gpt-4-turbo or Opus 4.1 is as good as its ever going to get.
