1. louclaudia have an alliance from the moment he allows her to talk telepathically to him despite lestat’s issues with it, that’s fostering a special bond between them lestat can’t be privy to.
2. lestat wants them to eat human to be healthy and strong bc they’re VAMPIRES

for a while now i think younger fic writers have seen fanfic as a 1:1 exhange between a provider and a consumer and not community sharing. a lot of problems branch off that but that's the core mindset that is killing good fic/fandom

Pre-smartphone, it was standard practice to download fics to read them offline. I had multiple apps to download and convert fics so I could read them on a PDA. I know people that would print out fics into whole binder archives of their favorites

this is why you have to be anti-censorship even in regards to content you PERSONALLY find morally objectionable btw. you give an inch, they’ll take a mile. there will be more bans.

one of the reasons i love this episode is bc louis' apologies starting out as 'i always loved him, i never loved you' is 1. a valid apology, 2. reminiscent of lestat to claudia: "it was never you" & 3. so fucking romantic like bestill my beating heart yk
I was going to fix a poster today but I ended up writing Louis' note instead. Sorry about that.
ALT Louis' not to Armand during the beheading it reads: SORRY 1) MAGNUS TOWER KISSING YOU IN FRONT OF LESTAT 2) COULDN'T PIN ME ON COMPANIONSHIP 3) KISSING YOU IN FRONT OF LESTAT. NOT FOR YOU NEVER FOR HIM.

“you shouldn’t share epubs that’s bad and it takes control away from the author” …there is literally no difference between sharing an epub of a downloaded fic and sharing a public ao3 link. everyone get less neurotic NOW

also saying that's all we know abt tc is so dishonest and the actual misogynistic thing happening here??? her being in many previous bands means she's likely the most experienced band member, her worrying abt the prospect of settling down & having kids means tvl is likely her +
EXCELLENT!!!
UK fans @AimPublicity are releasing an #IWTV box set with seasons 1-3 on 23 November. It looks pretty!

cases like this illustrate the importance of emphasizing again and again that ao3 is not a content platform, its an archive. it exists to house fanworks w/out fear of deletion, & offers a way of navigating the archive like the dewey decimal system helps you navigate a library

Earlier today, we detected evidence of a security incident on #AO3. We are still in the early stages of investigating. No AO3 data has been deleted. All your works, bookmarks, kudos, etc., are safe. Learn more at otwstatus.org/incidents/g12j…
We estimate that service restoration for #AO3 will take around 2 weeks but it could be up to 4 weeks. We are hopeful that we will be able to bring the site back up in a degraded state sooner. Refer to our status page for updates: otwstatus.org/
I forgot how good LOST was. I started watching it from the beginning for the first time in like a decade or more, and it really was so good.

Since Ao3 is down, here’s a little fanfic archive I made during summer 2022 ✨♥️

anne rice absolutely wrote book!gabistat with incestuous under and overtones. their relationship became romantic after gabi was turned *because* of the groundwork gabi laid while they were human. lestat’s desperation to be gabi’s man was not written in a completely platonic sense

For all those who get angry about ao3 donations every year, this is what those donations fund-- investigating and fixing the servers, and keeping them online.

great opportunity for people on here to actually read the vampire chronicles and stop lying about what’s happening in those books every 5 minutes.

AO3 IS RUN BY VOLUNTEERS
they do not get paid for any of this. be kind, patient, and respectful to the volunteers who work hard to keep ao3 running, fight against censorship, and protect writers, fanfics, and people’s rights/freedom to write whatever they want, however they want

"-the suit changes nothing, again, I'm kissing Lestat on the altar..." 2x8
"Lestat has aroused feelings that I'd wished to forget, despite Claudia's death. Hatred had not been one of them."
"It would have all turned out the same."
