As a Dane, I find it rather curious that the Prime Minister apparently takes exception to Finland and Norway exercising a little independent diplomatic judgment. One might have imagined that sovereign states, particularly those sharing a border with Russia, were entitled to speak to their neighbors without first seeking Brussels' permission. But apparently, European unity now requires unanimity, sovereignty is increasingly conditional, and independent diplomacy risks being classified as an act of insubordination. Who voted for that? I would find it rather amusing, were the circumstances not so tragic, that after nearly four years of insisting that Russia must be brought to the negotiating table, actually speaking to Russia has somehow become controversial. I am beginning to wonder whether the objective is to end the war or merely to ensure that nobody negotiates without the appropriate Brussels choreography. Perhaps the next European Council meeting could clarify whether diplomacy is still permitted and, if so, who is authorized to conduct it. @mazzenilsson @battleforeurope @rochowanski
