SIX YEARS of scaffolding. Remediation still hasn't started ⬇️ Places for People blame the Building Safety Regulator, omitting that their plans have failed to demonstrate fire safety compliance. The blame game continues. Residents, leaseholders and shared owners remain trapped.

Nearly 100 disputes worth £1.2bn show what happens when Government leaves everyone to fight building by building. The buck-passing continues, lawyers get rich, cases drag on and leaseholders remain trapped. Litigation does not make homes safe.

2018: 213 homes built by @BouyguesUK for Runnymede Council. 2021: Unsafe cladding identified. 2023: Remediation completed. 2026: Serious internal fire-safety defects uncovered. Leaseholders now face costs up to £10k. When will you fix this mess, @AngelaRayner @andyburnham ⁉️
Fire safety failings at Runnymede Borough Council's flagship regeneration development have left residents angered and trapped in limbo. More here: bbc.in/4pOAAWK

Nine years on from Grenfell, Ed Daffarn and Grenfell United continue to show extraordinary dignity in the face of unimaginable suffering. Their loss of faith in @UKLabour to deliver change should shame those in power.

We may have had a fighting chance if the Bill's (obvious) measures were in the BSA 4+ years ago. Sadly, @mhclg culture remains focused on changing behaviours over time rather than acting with any urgency to get a grip of this mess and actually protect leaseholders.

Remediation Bill legislation finally announced in today’s King’s Speech. As feared, it’s CRAP ⬇️
Hopefully, it won't be focused on cladding alone. Otherwise, the acronym for "Cladding Remediation Acceleration Plan" will be wholly appropriate.

Who owns your home matters. Housing co-ops put ownership and control in the hands of residents – not landlords. The law should support that. Add your name if you agree. party.coop/campaign/communit…

An Interim Measures Alarm Fund sounds like a much better solution than the previous Waking Watch Relief Fund. No #leaseholder should have had to pay out for an alarm because of the #claddingscandal but so many have.

As a former member and one of a few leaseholders on the BSR Residents Panel, I really strongly urge RMC directors caught in the #BuildingSafetyCrisis to apply. The @H_S_E decisions will destroy finances of innocent leaseholders and we MUST have our voices heard.
👥 We’re recruiting a new Chair for the BSR Residents’ Panel. 🏢 An opportunity for people living in higher-risk buildings (or private landlords) to shape building safety using real lived experience. Apply by 10 May 2026. ▶️ More: buildingsafety.campaign.gov.…

Ground rent is money for nothing - a charge levied on leaseholders by freeholders, often based overseas. @AngelaRayner is right that the government must face down lobbying from wealthy freeholders and deliver on its manifesto promise to cap ground rents. theguardian.com/commentisfre…
