A major post on FSD safety by Tesla ahead of a potential vote on 6th of October
An update on FSD Supervised in Europe
FSD is currently approved in five EU countries (NL, DK, BE, EE, LT), used by >70k customers for over 1 million km per day, and is 4.1x less likely to get into a crash compared to manual driving, measured across 100 million km on public EU roads.
Leading up to a potential EU-wide approval vote for FSD Supervised on October 6th, 2026, we have decided to open-source one of the key pieces of evidence used to support the Netherlands approval.
As a reminder, we adjusted the FSD design to be compliant with existing regulation (UN-R-171 DCAS) but requested an exemption for certain behaviors via the EU Article 39 procedure. The following dashboard is evidence of safety for those exemptions.
This exact dashboard was shared with all EU Member States in April 2026, shortly after RDW’s approval, and all data presented is from before that date.

European countries recorded 19,400 road deaths in 2025. That's around 53 deaths/day, with the vast majority of these crashes attributed to human error. These deaths are largely preventable with technology we have today.
FSD Supervised is already saving lives where it’s approved – yet in much of Europe, that safety benefit remains locked behind bureaucracy.
As it stands, there is no concrete schedule for the FSD in the EU wide yet.
It would be best just for the countries to approve it right now instead of waiting for something they can do themselves.
Elon on the Q3 call: EU-wide Tesla Assisted Driving hopefully in Q1 2027.
FSD already runs in 9 EU countries. TCMV vote may or may not come in December.
Q3 Shareholder Update → ir.tesla.com
Highlights
– FSD Supervised attach rate grew to over 75% of new vehicle deliveries in NA
– Unveiled the next-gen Roadster
– Record deliveries in Canada, Australia, Japan & Taiwan
– Tesla Semi now in volume production. Top variant can go up to 500 miles at a full 82,000 lbs while achieving efficiency of 1.7 kWh/mile – about a third of the energy a comparable diesel truck burns for the same load
– Ended the quarter with the largest backlog for our passenger vehicles in 4 years!
FSD Supervised
– 4 new approvals since Q2 (Croatia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Slovakia)
– FSD is now live in nine EU countries & used by over 100,000 customers logging more than 160 million kilometers since initial approval
Robotaxi
– Deployed Cybercab into our Austin fleet
– Hit nearly 2 million cumulative unsupervised miles, 8x growth in the quarter
– Austin service now runs 6 am to midnight, with wait times continuing to come down as we add cars & improve the orchestration algorithms
– Added Grok to Cybercab with Grok Bot & Connectors, letting you interface with your inbox, calendar, files, chats and tasks, all by voice.
Transport, office & living room in one
Robotics
– Started production of @Tesla_Optimus on our high-volume lines in Fremont.
These are the first production-quality bots we've built, proving that the current manufacturing process for Optimus is suitable for a commercial product
SI Compute
– On track for 400 MW of training compute by year end, feeding both vehicle & humanoid autonomy
– Austin Fab construction continues, equipment commissioning planned for 2027
Battery
– Battery supply is still the limiter on how fast we ramp vehicles globally, so we're expanding on every front: pack capacity in Berlin, cathode and lithium refining in Texas, LFP cells in Nevada
– Shipped the first Megapacks built entirely with our own LFP cells
– Increasing 4680 output to support ramp of Cybercab, Semi & Model Y
Energy
– Megafactory Texas is up & running, with Megapack 3 production started
– Highest-ever order rate & backlog for energy storage
Grid constraints & power availability are making Megapack the answer for SI infrastructure demand: it excels at supplying large data center loads, smooths out demand spikes, helps new projects meet grid connection rules & makes the grid itself more stable
All with less local fossil fuel generation
Supporting Infrastructure
– Added 2,100+ net new Supercharger stalls, up 14% year over year

Tesla just dropped its first Robotaxi Safety Report 🚨
3.1 million driverless miles
No safety monitor on board
Texas + Florida (Jan 22 to Oct 18)
The numbers 🧵

3.1M driverless miles
Zero injuries
Zero pedestrians or cyclists hit 🤯
Humans over the same miles: ~9 injury crashes
Europe, are we watching? 🇪🇺
We are launching the Tesla Robotaxi safety report today.
Till date, Robotaxi has driven a total of 3.3 million miles autonomously, and has had zero injuries nor airbag deployments. If the same number of miles were to be manually driven, we should expect roughly 9 injuries to the occupants or other pedestrians and 4 airbag deployments on average.
We will continue to transparently share our progress with the public using this page.

🇫🇮 Finland has been "assessing" Tesla FSD (TAD) for 120 days.
On 23 June, Traficom said its review of the Dutch approval was ongoing, "particularly in Finnish conditions", and that the EU vote was expected in October 2026.
October came. No vote. No Finnish decision.
Around 6,500 HW4 Teslas are waiting in Finland, yet Tesla is already running demo rides there.
Traficom can recognise it nationally at any time. Will it move before December?
It would be nice to participate one day
Tesla shareholders: Our Annual Meeting is coming up on Dec 3rd
This year, we’re asking you to vote “FOR” all three proposals on the ballot, including the re-election of Elon Musk, Robyn Denholm and JB Straubel to Tesla’s Board.
Last year, we laid out our vision for building a world of amazing abundance – this year, it’s been coming to life. And we’re only getting started…
Your vote is critical to helping us maintain that momentum.

TCMV June meeting minutes are available and they show a few interesting points.
The first and foremost, according to RDW the adaptive speed control resulted in an average 4.4 km/h reduction compared to the detected speed limit. Not speeding.
It's also stated, that the feature avoids the need of the driver to push the pedal. Driver overriding the system would, in my opinion, be more dangerous than letting the system do its thing.
Still the discussion revolves around the speeding...

🚨BREAKING: TESLA FSD DRIVING IN SLOVAKIA 🇸🇰
The last time I crossed a border on Tesla FSD (Supervised), Czechia to Austria, it violently shut down after a few meters. Slovakia approved it yesterday, and most Slovak cars don't even have the update yet...
@teslaeurope @TeslaSI
Nice, more stalls in Finland 🇫🇮 The south coast keeps getting easier with a Tesla.
Next step: approve Tesla Assisted Driving here so the car can drive us to them too. Let them roll!
New Tesla Supercharger: Tammisaari, Finland (8 stalls)
