The sooner something is done about the ludicrously outdated Barnett formula for the UK government funding for Scotland, the better. The SNP has a policy of not enforcing compulsory redunancies. No one wants redundancies, and everything should always be done to ensure they are a last resort. But, enforcing a blanket ban cannot work as it hamstrings organisations to move forward and to be able to react to the challenges and opportunities of the day. I also know, first hand, the impact redundancy can have, as I have been through it twice in my 42 year career to date. I'm absolutely not unsympathetic to those affected by it. But we now find the SNP have spent £27 million on paying salaries to government employees whose jobs no longer exist. £27 MILLION. This is outrageous. And, clearly, if they can afford this they won't mind the Barnett formula finally being scrapped. After all, what justification have they for keeping it when wasting this shocking amount of taxpayers money??

Andy Burnham has told the Sunday Times that he is open to readopting free movement as part of a closer relationship with the EU. This would be an utter affront to all those - including the millions of working-class voters in Labour's traditional heartlands - who voted for Brexit. At a time when our immigration system remains completely broken, it would also be a calamitous own goal. Under no circumstances should the Labour party go along with it.

You want an honest discussion Andy? Try this 17.4 million people voted to stop this freedom of movement shambles and now a PM with fewer than 25,000 votes from a constituency which voted overwhelmingly to leave the EU … arrogantly thinks he has a mandate to take the rest of us back in. He doesn’t 💣

No to Scottish Independence and the SNP So there we have it, Sturgeon and her government did not consult the care inspectorate before sending elderly patients into care homes, the majority were sent untested for covid. No wonder all text messages were deleted!

John Swinney's in India. Telling them that he wants Scotland to be in the EU whilst simultaneously saying he welcomes the UK free trade agreement with India. You can't have a free trade agreement with India John if you are in the EU! What a 🤡

The SNP, including Sturgeon, has apologised to long dead witches but they have not apologised to the families of care home residents who died of the deadly virus after a damning UK Covid Inquiry criticised them for a lack of preparedness. The SNP must be held to account.

Thank heaven for small mercies. The UK government has — at last — granted consent for gas to be produced from the Jackdaw gas field. Now, what about Rosebank?

Good evening @Malcolm_Offord @ThomasKerrMSP Scotland’s politicians and top council bosses are doing just fine while the country isn’t.🙄 Median full-time pay in Scotland is around £40,000. An MSP takes home roughly £75,000–£78,000. The elected council leaders in Glasgow and Edinburgh are on about £71,500–£74,000. Ministers and the First Minister are on substantially more. That’s already roughly twice what most working Scots earn, with strong pensions, expenses and job security on top. Then there’s the unelected senior officers. Glasgow’s former chief executive Annemarie O’Donnell was on a salary of around £209,000, and walked away with a total package reported at over £567,000 once a large pension contribution was included. Current chief executives in the big cities are still in the £200,000+ range. Meanwhile ordinary people face council tax rises of 4–10%, councils report hundreds of millions in budget gaps, services are under pressure, and Scotland still has Europe’s worst drug death rate. The people at the top , both the politicians and the highest-paid officers keep receiving well above average pay and appear largely insulated from the consequences. They feel secure. A lot of Scots don’t. When does that change?

Most Scots know the SNP has been a disaster for Scotland & proven untrustworthy and incompetent. A survey has shown that most Scots have major concerns about the SNP in government over their lack of ability on the cost of living, economy, NHS, housing & surely education too.

My biggest worry for us going for the title this season is the officials They proved last season they cannot under any circumstances be trusted in the slightest The fact Matthew MacDermid is involved in his 4th Rangers game this season in 9 league games is suspect as fuck

Swinney could lie as much in 2014 as in 2026. Meanwhile Alyn Smith lies to the bbc interviewer today that 'once in a generation' was a throwaway line mentioned only once, by only one person, Alec Salmond.
John Swinney was adamant in 2014 that there wasn’t going to be another referendum if Scotland voted no.

The SNP are obsessed with breaking up Britain. In the dangerous world we now live in, that would be a gift to Putin. They would drive our nuclear deterrent out of Faslane, put more than 25,000 Scottish jobs at risk and weaken our ability to defend ourselves. Al Carns calls it “the most amateur politics” he has ever seen. The SNP would leave Scotland weaker and Putin stronger. @thetimes today ⬇️

So it turns out the triple lock would have been dumped in a year in Seppie Scotland . Explain that away @JohnSwinney
1/🚨Well, this is awkward. Very awkward. If Scotland had voted yes in 2014, the SNP’s triple lock commitment applied only for the first term of an independent parliament. Nicola Sturgeon was unambiguous about this in the Scottish Parliament (clip is from 26th November 2013).
