This is not surprising. Cars don’t shop. People do.
As we head into Oxford Street's first traffic-free weekend, evidence is already showing the benefits to businesses. Market Halls footfall is up 29%, and sales are up 25% year-on-year ⬇️

People like Robert, who co-authored the 2019 Conservative manifesto, now have all the solutions.
You can dress it up however you like, but borrowing/spending to increase defence commitments is still borrowing/spending. Germany built up its (literal) war chest via years and years of fiscal discipline. We very much haven't thetimes.com/uk/politics/art…

There were only 2 games in Britain in season 04-05 than finished 7-1. Rangers V Dundee United and Man City V Barnsley. The same two goalkeepers played in both games - Ronald Waterreus for Rangers and City, Nick Colgan for Dundee Utd and Barnsley.

I’ve just been travelling around the US and honestly one big difference is their authorities want to see growth and development and that means building supermarkets and homes. In the UK we have these wet wipes as Cllrs who celebrate stopping Lidl from being built. Zero ambition

10 years later and it’s still one of the best attack lines in a presidential debate. And now everyone knows she was right.

That’s bleakly funny. Very few stand up but their numbers are eventually supplemented when he comes on to recipients of the state pension - which is, I need hardly state, a welfare benefit. Reform is not a party of strivers & wealth creators.

Yet again, Burnham played a blinder confirming this.
Former Head of MI6 Sir John Sawers, "Russia was very keen that the Leave campaign should succeed and that Britain should leave the European Union" "Because that would marginalise Britain as a global player and weaken Europe in general" "That's the strategic opportunity the Russians spotted, and the leaders of the Leave campaign fell into it" My view: Former MI6 chief Sir John Sawers says Russia saw Brexit as a way to weaken Britain and divide Europe, and that the Leave campaign’s leaders walked straight into the opportunity. So let’s remember who sold it: VOTE LEAVE • Boris Johnson — political figurehead • Michael Gove and Gisela Stuart — campaign committee co-convenors • Matthew Elliott — chief executive • Dominic Cummings — campaign director • Daniel Hannan — leading Brexit advocate • Priti Patel, Iain Duncan Smith, Chris Grayling, John Whittingdale and Theresa Villiers — senior Conservative campaigners • David Davis, Liam Fox, Dominic Raab, Steve Baker and Douglas Carswell — prominent Leave campaigners LEAVE. EU • Nigel Farage — leading political figure • Arron Banks — co-chairman and major funder • Andy Wigmore — communications director GRASSROOTS OUT / LABOUR LEAVE • Peter Bone and Tom Pursglove — Grassroots Out co-founders • Kate Hoey — Grassroots Out co-founder and Labour Leave campaigner • Graham Stringer, Kelvin Hopkins and Roger Godsiff — Labour Leave campaigners • Sammy Wilson — prominent DUP Leave campaigner They promised Brexit would make Britain stronger. Sawers says Russia saw the opposite opportunity: a Britain marginalised and a Europe weakened.
