Hon’ble Union Minister of Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, officially launched the Operational Guidelines for DILRMP 3.0. During the launch, he struck a chord with everyone, reminding us that land isn't just a piece of soil it’s the pride of our farmers and a deeply emotional part of our generational heritage. Hon’ble MoS Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani added a great technical perspective, noting that we are officially moving past just scanning paper documents. We are now focusing on true interoperability—making sure all our state and national digital systems actually talk to each other seamlessly. Secretary (DoLR), Shri Narendra Bhooshan, rounded it out by highlighting that this phase is all about building a strong, unified digital foundation (Digital Public Infrastructure) for land administration across the country. What is the real purpose of DILRMP 3.0?It’s simple: to make land governance transparent, citizen-friendly, and incredibly easy to access. It’s about saving people time and ending the endless rounds to government offices. Two major highlights from the new guidelines really stand out: The Bharat Land Stack: This will link all land records, registrations, and maps into one unified platform. Registration Seva Kendras: We all know how Passport Seva Kendras completely transformed how we get passports. Now, high-footfall Sub-Registrar Offices are going to be modernized into Registration Seva Kendras to make property registration just as smooth and hassle-free for buyers and sellers. This is a huge leap forward for everyday ease of living! #DigitalIndia #LandReforms #DILRMP #EaseOfLiving #PublicPolicy #Governance

VIDEO | Delhi: Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) Secretary Saurabh Garg says, "I think we have released them at three different eras. In February 2026, we released the Q1-25-26 figures, which was 80.3 trillion. Then we released them again in May with the updated numbers from the IIP and the provisional numbers that we had of the, and that was 80.4. And now when we released it for Q1 of last year, it came out at 80.0, keeping in view the incorporation of the PPI that had been done. So there have been three releases of the same number with minor variations, which always happens in GDP, as you are aware. Of the GDP annual figures, we release a number, annual number as a provisional estimate in the May of a year. Then we release the first revised estimate in the February of the succeeding year. And after another year, we release the final estimates. So these are based on additional information that is received.

VIDEO | Delhi: Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) Secretary Saurabh Garg defends the GDP numbers. He says, "It's unfortunate that we've heard those remarks. Let me put it this way. Whenever we compare two different years, we always compare at constant prices. Firstly, what has been done in that statement is comparing figures at current prices. When you compare two years, say, five years ago and now, at current prices, there will obviously be some areas of discrepancy. The second, which is even more glaring, is the fact that the number being compared with is from the old base year. As you are aware, in February, we released numbers with the new base year, 2022-23, and we had given numbers for all the years in the back series up to 2022-23. So, a number from the new base year for the first quarter of this year has been compared with a number from the obsolete series based on the old base year of 2011-12, even though the new series had already been published in February 2026. So, this claim that the numbers have been compressed now relates to a figure that was released in February 2026 but was not quoted. That's the second glaring error...The third is the fact that when you look at the actual output or actual volumes, whenever a growth rate is compared from quarter to quarter, we do it based on actual production, let us say, of steel, cement and automobiles, in Q1 of 2025-26 with Q1 of 2026-27. In each of these areas, volume growth has been of the order of 10 per cent, 15 per cent and 20 per cent. So, it's unfortunate that a comparison is being made of apples and oranges, when I'm sure people know better..."

Delhi: Dr Saurabh Garg, Secretary, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), says, "I would say it is highly unfortunate because he would know better. Let me just say there are two or three areas where a correction is needed. Number one, whenever we compare different years, we do not compare at current prices but at constant prices. So, I think he has picked up two sets of data at current prices, and the reason we do that is that constant prices remove or strip away the impact of prices and look only at volume growth..."

Delhi: On India’s 7.8 per cent GDP growth in Q1 FY 2026-27, Dr Saurabh Garg, Secretary, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), says, "If you look at these numbers and try to look at the different sectors, what we are saying is that it is a very broad-based growth. If you look at the services sector, which has done the best, different sectors have also grown. Real estate and construction have grown by 24%, retail and wholesale trade have done very well, and tourism has done very well. So, the services sector overall has grown by nearly 12% or even more in some of them..."

VIDEO | Srinagar: On 7.8 per cent GDP growth in first quarter, Secretary (MoSPI) Saurabh Garg says, "…As the Prime Minister has said, this is a Herculean task that has been made possible with the support of the people. The kind of consumption expenditure that we are seeing has remained extremely robust. Investment in capital formation and capital goods has also been extremely strong, which shows that corporates have implemented a number of programmes. More importantly, the policy interventions made by the government are also showing results. So, a combination of all these factors has helped us achieve this growth rate of 7.8 per cent.” (Full video available on PTI Videos - ptivideos.com)

India’s exemplary GDP growth of 7.8% during Q1 of FY 2026-27 is a herculean feat. The collective strength of our people ensured India delivered such growth despite oil price shocks and supply chain issues in the midst of global uncertainties. Doomsayers were doomed and India bloomed…yet again!

#WATCH | Delhi: On National Statistics Day, Saurabh Garg, Secretary, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, says, "The theme for National Statistics Day celebration is ' Unlocking the potential of administrative data'. Over the past decade, we have a lot of administrative data, especially because of the growth of Digital India. How we can leverage this administrative data for decision-making is the theme for today's discussions. The PM has been focusing on data-driven decision-making. This is in the context that if we are talking of a Viksit Bharat by 2047, the policies that we take, the decisions that we make, have to be so much more focused and more data-driven. Ministry of Statistics is helping to ensure that the data is more harmonised to make it interoperable."
