The first #C295 in transport configuration out of the 18 ordered in late 2025 for the @EjercitoAire 🇪🇸 has successfully completed its maiden flight. This aircraft will be the first destined for the Military Air Transport School at Matacán Air Base (west-central Spain), where it will take over from the CN235s in crew training and the transport of personnel, paratroopers 🪂, and cargo 📦.
Scheduled for delivery by the end of this year, this aircraft has the capacity to transport 70 troops or 50 paratroopers, take off and land on unprepared airstrips, perform cargo and paratrooper drops, as well as evacuate casualties.

Rutte challenged the perception among some Western European allies that geographical distance offers meaningful protection from Russian military threats. Addressing countries such as Spain and Portugal, he argued that Russia’s latest missiles could reach Lisbon only five minutes later than Warsaw. He stressed that the threat affects every NATO member and warned against underestimating the need for collective defense.
Rutte’s warning underscores why NATO’s response to Russian military capabilities cannot be limited to its eastern flank. Long-range missiles reduce the security advantage of geographical distance, making integrated air and missile defenses, military readiness, and coordinated deterrence essential across Europe.
