Looks like I have to say it again: If you're an artist and follow me, I will look at your timeline and maybe RT your comm. info if I see it. But if you DM me without any kind of prior interaction asking me to comm. you, it's an automatic block. It is NOT a good approach!

I think the scary thing about the Red Baron video is that lots of young people cannot distinguish between a flesh and blood human being and an ephemeral image on a screen

Hello friends. To help cover my grandmother’s medical expenses, I find myself in the difficult position of opening a limited number of commission slots. If you’re interested, please send me a private message via any of my social media accounts. The details are provided below. conditions: 1- Trust me. Whether you've known me for a long time or you've already commissioned an illustration from me, the important thing is that you know I deliver. 2- The person must be willing to wait. I take care of my 93-year-old grandmother, so there might be delays. 3- No refunds. Prices, rules and discounts: These will remain in effect even when I resume making commissions on a massive scale. Rules: I don't draw anything illegal. I don't draw real people in adult or romantic situations. I don't do fan art of characters from independent works unless they are works with adult content or I have the direct or indirect authorization of the author (Massive adult fan art of their characters, favorable reaction to adult content of their characters on their social networks, etc.) Everything else is allowed. If the employer wants to keep the assignment exclusive and not share it, they must stipulate this when making the assignment. Fetishes or characters from children's franchises that aren't sexualized in their original version are allowed, but they come with an extra fee. The original price doubles, but if it's a fetish that's too uncomfortable to draw, it triples. If it's a fetish that doubles the price and it's a character like the ones I'm talking about, the price triples. Examples of characters: Disney (excluding already sexualized characters like Jasmine, Cass, etc.). There are no children's characters that also have an extra fee, like Gwenpool. The reason for the extra fee is that everything in life has a price, even your mental health, so the fee would be added even if it's not a fetish for you. It's my mental health I'm charging for, not your preferences. Prices: Color portrait $35 Color half-body $40 (up to the waist) long half-body (up to the thighs) 45 Color full-body $50 background: FREE! $9 for the commission that PayPal asks me for a deposit. In my country, I am charged a commission for depositing and withdrawing money. Discounts: If the drawing you ordered includes more than one character, the first one will be charged at full price, and the others will be discounted by 50%. Appearance variations such as clothing changes and more are 50% off. If you wish to receive your additional 10% subscription discount, you must specify this when placing your order. Note: Any questions or criticisms can be made in the comments or via private message. If you're interested, send me a private message on any of my social media accounts. #art #artist

I would also point out that the sequels really turn on a full rejection of fatherhood. In many ways, they invert the story told in the first six movies. Luke fails Kylo. He’s not the father figure he should be. And Han fails Kylo. He’s not the father he should be. And then the son kills the father. Instead of following any sort of redemptive arc, Kylo gives in to his evil side and murders his own father. It’s the exact opposite of Luke refusing to kill his father. And consider what they do to Luke. The man whose greatest heroic act was refusing to give up on his murderous father becomes a man who briefly considers killing his own nephew because he fears what he might become. Then there’s Rey. She doesn’t need Luke. She’s already awesome without him. And Luke has become a bitter old man because he didn’t live up to his own idealism. Yoda pops in, but he’s not really much of a father. He mostly just mocks Luke. And Rey gives herself over to the matriarchy more than anything. The characters she learns from, for the most part, are strong, independent, feminist sorts of leaders. She doesn’t need the kind of fatherly guidance that Luke desperately needed in the original trilogy. So you can see the sequel trilogy as a full rejection of fatherhood. Fathers are either failures, obstacles, or unnecessary. Rey doesn’t need a man, and Kylo is ultimately brought back to the good side largely through Rey’s awesomeness.
I love prequel memes. And I’ve been enjoying the sort of Zoomer take on the Star Wars prequels floating around X for the last couple of days. A lot of these takes hinge on the idea of Anakin as representative of the white male experience in a progressive culture, where the good guys are actually the bad guys, and the bad guys are the good guys. And there is a good deal of truth to that. But I think there’s something important being overlooked, something that is central to how I read the story. I see the first six Star Wars movies as essentially being about fatherhood. Anakin has no father. He comes from a single-parent home. Qui-Gon Jinn takes an interest in Anakin as a person. He is a benevolent fatherly presence who advocates for Anakin, sees his potential, and wants to protect and guide him. And part of that protection is even from the Jedi Order itself, since Qui-Gon disagrees with some of its ways. The great tragedy of that first movie is that Qui-Gon, Anakin’s only true father figure, dies. Anakin is left to be raised by a cold Jedi Order and Obi-Wan Kenobi, who functions more like an older brother. Obi-Wan loves Anakin, but he is no father. Without fatherly guidance and protection, Anakin struggles to enter the world of men and is used by two sides: a cold, detached Jedi Order and a manipulative false father in Palpatine. And just as Anakin becomes the one thing he never had, a father, he loses much of his humanity, his wife, and his family. That is the central tragedy of the prequels. Now consider the original trilogy. You have a son who is raised by a father figure in Uncle Owen and eventually finds himself under the care of a much older and more fatherly Obi-Wan. So, Luke was actually fathered, unlike Anakin. The series slowly turns into Luke’s quest to see his father redeemed. In the end, Luke is unwilling to kill his father. And Anakin finds his redemption by killing his own false father to rescue his son. That is the triumph of the original trilogy: a son pulling his father back from the darkness by becoming the man his father once desired to be. And that father, even at the very end of his life, being awakened and doing what it takes to give his son a future. That’s how I read Star Wars. The tragedy of fatherlessness, and the triumph of sonship and fatherhood.

Jean-Luc Picard was a character who Meant Something. Both in the amount of tragedy he endured ... -Was stabbed in the heart in his youth, surviving with an artificial one -Successfully reversed his assimilation by the Borg in what seemed like the most helpless of situations (though still forced to endure whispers of the hivemind because of irrevocably altered DNA). -Had his consciousness abducted to live an entire second life as Kamin -- first defiantly, then begrudgingly, then wholeheartedly -- on the dying planet Kataan before being returned, just as abruptly, to resume his life as a Starfleet captain -Was captured and tortured, both physically and psychologically, by the Cardassians, only to be rescued at his most broken point -Flatlined on the operating table after being shot in his artificial heart, requiring Q to save him through a temporal intervention that forced him to confront his past regrets and ultimately reinvigorated his will to live -Was absorbed by, then escaped from the Nexus, where he was seduced by a manifestation of the life he most deeply desired but could never have -Realized far too late the importance of family and grieved for his missed opportunities ... And in the way he carried himself, with a poise and intensity that left no doubt whose ship it was. He *commanded* in a way that hasn't been depicted on screen before or since, and his unwavering competence and dutiful resolve made him one of my earliest role models. Patrick Stewart wasn't Jean-Luc Picard, of course, but he's the only actor who could have made Picard what he was. And that makes me eternally grateful to him.

Pemmican was the first energy bar ever made, and nothing on the petrol station counter has come close to it since. What went into pemmican: - Dried meat, pounded to powder - Rendered fat, poured in hot - Held together by the fat, nothing else - About 3,000 calories a pound - Keeps for years without a fridge - Wrapped in the animal's own hide What goes into the one by the till: - Oats, puffed rice, soy protein isolate - Sunflower or rapeseed oil - Glued together with syrup, under 3 different names - About 1,800 calories a pound - Best before next spring - Wrapped in plastic that will outlive you It took 5 pounds of fresh meat to make 1 pound of the dried, and a whole bison to fill one bag. The drying took out the water, which is most of what an animal weighs, and the fat put back the part that does the work. In the Boer War the British Army issued it as the iron ration: 4 ounces of pemmican and 4 of chocolate in a tin, and a soldier could march for 36 hours on it before he started to drop. Peary took 30,000 pounds of it to the Pole and called it the most concentrated and satisfying of all meat foods. The word is Cree. Pimîhkân, from pimî, which means fat. The people who invented the energy bar named it after the energy.

My therapist once told me, “Anger is the part of you that loves you the most. It shows up when you’re being mistreated, ignored, or disrespected. It’s a signal calling you to step away from what’s harming you. Whether it’s a room, a job, a relationship, or an old version of yourself, anger lets you know when it’s time to walk away. If you learn to listen to it, to trust it, and make it your ally, it won’t need to shout so loudly.” That conversation never left me… it changed the way I see myself.
