Hoey was thrown under the bus. The very real and significant uk presence was omitted as that suited all parties except of course mr hoey.

Some of the loan agreements I’ve seen define the loan as an unsecured specialty debt. Specialty debt has a maximum time limit of 12 years. Considering what was settled in to trust was the right to the loan wouldn’t that render the value at £0 if over 12 years old. No IHT?

"We've had ten suicides. That's not going to end." Jai, who was asked to pay £26,000 by HMRC, says "common sense and compassion" is needed for people whose salaries were paid through loan schemes and face crippling tax demands. #PoliticsHub trib.al/ftpea6d 📺 Sky 501

To quote the respected lawyer @SarahEGabbai: " Loan charge does not require proof of motive or intent, unlike theft. It ensnares people into being “guilty” of tax avoidance when in reality they were trying to do the right thing. Therein lies the cruelty."

Mel Stride (who has blocked many UK journalists on this platform) is the chap that pushed both the #loancharge and #ir35 reforms through Parliament as FST. I’ve got tons of letters, as have others, with his name on - that gaslights individuals who wrote real concerns to their MPs. He’s made a career out of being a PR postbox for civil servants.
'Your government has been in place since 2010 and this miscarriage of justice continued until 2015...How come the government didn't notice?' @susannareid100 questions Work and Pensions Secretary Mel Stride, on the wrongful convictions of hundreds of sub-postmasters.

Lots of people have been getting in touch with me about the parallels between the #PostOffceScandal and tax matters like #ir35 and the #LoanChargeScandal. Granted no-one has been locked up, like the awful consequences of the PO actions. But there are absolutely parallels. Weak ministerial oversight leading to abuse of power by the tax office. In terms of numbers, there are 100x more victims from the Loan Charge. About the same on IR35, circa 500 - but it’s all yet to come out. taxpayerfairness.org

There have been Parliamentarians across both houses and political divides who are appalled by the loan charge and related issues. But they've been stymied by the indifference of the Treasury (and an apparent unwillingness of the Labour opposition to make too much noise). 1/2

This will probably be the next mass scandal to come into public consciousness. The #LoanChargeScandal 70,000+ people affected Mutliple suicides No punishment for companies involved who waltzed away with the money, inc at least one Tory donor Keep holding them to account. Excellent journalists already involved 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼inc ⏬️@gregwrightYP
Many people who contacted me about #loancharge said they effectively had no choice; they had to sign up to be paid. Others questioned people behind them and were told they were 'QC approved' and 'HMRC compliant'. They didn't INTEND to avoid responsibilities as taxpayers

GREAT NEWS My ongoing campaign to limit the number of people retweeting this image and causing any upset to Boris Johnson has made great progress I am now so confident that nobody will RT it that I am going to tag in @BorisJohnson so he can see how well we're doing. Thank you.

“On sleeping pills & antidepressant medication..haven't been able to work thru stress & having suicidal thoughts. I'm a single mother who's worked hard all my life. If #HMRC succeed in their draconian& unfair demands I lose house & retirement & I don’t think I can live with that”

We organised this important call for evidence because #HMRC & the Treasury have not been honest about the impact (they know) the draconian & unfair #LoanCharge is having & will have. We will continue to prove & publish the awful reality until Ministers listen #LoanChargeScandal
“I don't have the capital to pay...I have a very small pension pot. I'm separated & my ex occupies the still mortgaged marital home. At 64 my working life is almost over. I'd have to apply for bankruptcy. I've considered suicide & this always remains an option” #LoanChargeScandal

"I've on occasions contemplated suicide'. The #loancharge. A totally discredited policy. Yet Rishi Sunak declines to reply to a letter calling for a fair resolution to this tragic saga signed by one of largest cross-party groups. Why not?
"The personal impact continues to be immense, overshadowing everything else. I cannot sleep, wake up with sweats & am so much more tired than I would otherwise be. My general attitude to life has had a nosedive & yes I've on occasions contemplated suicide" #LoanChargeScandal
