Most private schools taking ESA funds aren’t required to follow the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, implement IEPs or provide comparable services.
So the ESA program does not have to serve SPED students.
That is why rollback and reform is needed.
Much of the ESA fraud money goes to families who already used private school. In the first two weeks of applications, about three of every four applicants had never attended an Arizona public school. 82% of universal vouchers go to students already in private school or homeschool
The cost for the ESA fraud far exceeded projections. The 2022 expansion was estimated at $65 million but grew to roughly $900 million within a year. The program now exceeds $1 billion annually and serves nearly 110,000 private and homeschool students.
Arizona voters said no, then the legislature expanded anyway. In 2018, Prop 305 would have expanded ESAs, then capped at about 30,000 students, and “no” won by a wide margin. In 2022 the legislature made the program universal. Critics say that overrode the voters’ decision.

You mean like refusing to have a hearing on a president's Supreme Court nominees for 239 days and then getting rid of the filibuster for appointing Supreme Court nominees to push their guy through?

Or maybe like refusing to pass bipartisan legislation on fixing issues at the border for the sole purpose of being able to campaign on the fact that there are issues with the border?

It is amazing how MAGA starts acting like the victim when they get even the smallest taste of their own medicine.
The same group that violently attacked the Capitol because they didn't like election results, and who spent the past 20 months talking about having a mandate for all of the awful things they've done, can't handle the country voting in another party to hold them accountable.

WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT YOU MORON? Stand and fight against what exactly? What are you protecting? Because last I checked, the republic isn’t Donald Trump or his administration. It’s the Constitution and the American people. Congress doing its job isn’t an attack on the country, and Americans questioning their government aren’t enemies. The military swears an oath to the Constitution, not to Trump’s personal agenda. It’s embarrassing that someone in your position needs that distinction explained to him. You didn’t go to college did you?
The “Arizona Fee Enterprise Club” is funded by companies that profit from the ESA fraud. That is their singular focus- to grow the ESA fraud. That is not free enterprise. That is stealing from the taxpayers. No better than welfare fraud except there are millions of dollars.

With this morning’s release of results, the final legislative seat can be determined.
Democrats will have a supermajority in the Arizona State Senate for the first time since 1966.
Voters rejected ESA expansion in 2018. Lawmakers went universal in 2022. Now Democrats are poised to control the Legislature, and Hobbs has vowed to rein in the program. A rollback would need only a bill and a signature.
