For the last two years, the Trump Administration has been governed by a simple mantra: “We can just do things.” On Tuesday, voters replied, “So can we,” and wiped out the GOP. This was not a blue wave. This was not a blue tsunami. This was the breakup of a winning coalition.
Those voters, in breaking up the coalition, treated downballot races as proxies for their contempt of Washington, D.C. The race for dog catcher became nationalized because of Republican political malpractice.
In 2024, Donald Trump assembled a multiracial and multiethnic coalition of voters who bristled at the progressivism of the Democrats and the wreckage of the economy. By 2026, Trump and his White House acolytes set that coalition on fire to cater to a group of hyperonline grievance mongers who have confused Twitter with real life.
Last night, the American constitutional system worked as designed and worked so well and so thoroughly that the party that lied to itself in 2020 that it had lost only because the election was stolen is now lying to itself that it lost only because of gas prices and war. Last night’s drubbing was too complete to be theft.
It was gas prices.
And it was the war.
But it was also calling affordability a “hoax.”
And it was also the corruption.
The incompetence.
The tariffs.
The playing nice with Russia while treating our allies worse than our enemies.
The impression of cruelty.
The overly aggressive deportations.
The accidental arrests of American citizens who were Hispanic.
The arrogance.
The ballroom.
The reflecting poll.
The golf courses.
The arch.
The Qatari 747.
The aggressive redistricting push.
The threats against enemies.
It turns out a weekend Fox and Friends host might not be a reassuring beacon of competence to Americans.
Gas prices and the war cannot explain a wipe out from top to bottom in Texas or Georgia or losing South Carolina or Ohio or a total coast to coast wipe out. Only the simpletons can believe that.
Adam Hamilton won Finney County in Kansas, which was a Trump +35 county in 2024 and he did so with Hispanic voters. He did not do that just because of war and gas prices.
And shall we talk about Mississippi?
A few weeks ago, Bo French in Texas attacked University of Texas students who were American citizens of Indian descent. A portion of the President’s base cheered him on. Even some within the Administration, on public Twitter accounts tied to the Administration, echoed him. Those voters’ parents repudiated the racism in the GOP and wiped out Republicans in Texas, not because they support the Democrats, but because the party they had supported turned on them. It was political malpractice by the GOP.

This.
Here is the thing you won’t see (apparently) any AZ Repubs reflect on as they act like innocent victims of outside forces:
Why did the blue wave go farther down ballot in AZ than other states? Why did deep red leg. districts go blue?
It wasn’t that we dummymandered here like they did in TX, GA & NC making the map easier to overtake.
The reason is voters here did not see any difference between these legislators and Trump, because even the “moderate” ones were completely deferential to TPUSA TO Hoffman to Trump.
Look at what they focused on legislatively.
Look at what their campaigns focused on message wise. Look at the popular policies that they just block, things like common sense ESA reform. And look how they all are reacting to this ass kicking now. Zero accountability. All blame.
Pointing to down ballot losses is not the exoneration you all think it is.

Dear @TexasGOP @TexasSenateGOP @TXGOPCaucus
On behalf of Texas constituents, I would like to thank the ENTIRE Texas Republican State government for stealing the midterm elections for Democrats.
I don't know how you pulled it off seeing as Republicans control the ENTIRE Texas state government, but the MAGA consensus is that somehow Democrats stole the midterms.
And THAT can only happen if the ENTIRE Texas Republican government body helped.
So, thank you, again, for stealing the midterm elections for Democrats.

Looking forward to the elimination of ESA. Talk about fraud. Here’s a crazy idea: let’s start investing in our schools. AZ ranks 49th in school spending while affluent private school parents are buying $1500 LEGO sets with ESA.

The Republicans have ran the con game for so long that they don't understand what it means to play fair.
School vouchers is a scam that only work for the scammers making million off public money.

In 2018 We The People voted OVERWHELMING against universal ESAs. AZMAGA ignored the expressed will of We The People and made ESAs universal, to send their kids to private religious schools.
The Dems are now going to dismantle this and listen to We The People. It's how they won.

Keep this up. Rather than accepting reality you show your ignorance and double down on cruelty, incompetence, and corruption. You are an absolute gift to Democrats.

You assume that every Republican voted Republican people are more than labels. Trump literally pissed off his own party and they voted accordingly considering Trump was also down almost 80% with independent voters. They voted against his agenda also

Wait a fucking minute. Didn’t the White House call it “fake news” when people questioned whether Iran’s nuclear facilities had been obliterated? Now we’re offering up to $20 million for information about them?
Rewards for Justice is offering a reward of up to $20 million and possible relocation for information about Iran’s nuclear program, including its facilities, equipment, and associated personnel, such as those in the scientific community, or the movement of any of the above.

That's adorable.
