Early voting starts soon here in the Hoosier state.
We've gotten things done in Terre Haute by choosing common sense over conflict. That's what we need everywhere else too.
Get out and vote. Let's choose compromise over division. Let's choose progress over politics.

In fact the Recount Commission DID NOT vote unanimously on throwing the ballots out. It was 2-1. And the Supreme Court told your Republican members and your joke SOS candidate to shove it up their backsides.
The democrat party has become so desperate that they need to smear the facts to try and be relevant.
The bipartisan recount commission voted unanimously on the final result, Beau Bayh wanted a specific outcome and thought it appropriate to undermine public trust in their work, while Max Engling supported their conclusion and also supports the Supreme Court decision as the next lawful step. Max Engling is the only candidate committed to following the law.
Would Beau undermine support in the court too if they didn’t follow his emotionally driven preference?
Vote for someone wanting to do the job, not grand stand. Vote for Max.

.@INDems Chair Karen Tallian’s response to the Indiana Supreme Court ruling in favor of @SpencerDeery:
“Hoosier voters prevailed and their voices were not silenced because of administrative errors by Republican county clerks. Our Hoosier republic prevailed in this major victory for the voters of Indiana. Voters should never have their ballots tossed out when their intent is clear and they followed all the rules.”

I’m Beau Bayh, a captain in the Marines, a seventh-generation Hoosier, and I’m running for Secretary of State to clean up this office. I’ll end the corruption on day one. No more taxpayer-funded luxury SUVs or no-bid contracts to donors while Hoosiers barely make ends meet.
Indiana can’t afford any more weak politicians. Let’s get to work.

Throughout all of Northwest Indiana, and today in Gary, I’ve witnessed something truly powerful – faith communities, nonprofits, and local businesses standing shoulder to shoulder to ensure no one in our community goes hungry. This is who we are. This is how we recover – together.

Thank you to Governor Braun, local Mayors, and city and town employees for your collaboration to assist our community after severe storms yesterday. Now what’s next is recovery, making sure people are safe, streets are cleared, and that we all come together to help the most vulnerable populations.

BREAKING: @INDems Chair Karen Tallian on Andy Zay’s firing from the IURC:
“Mike Braun and the Republican legislature have done everything to bend over backward for utility companies over the past 20+ years. Now, Braun is using Andy Zay as a scapegoat. Braun knew the AES case was being investigated when he appointed Zay. The buck must stop with the governor’s poor judgment. The only commissioner who voted against any recent major electric increase is former Democratic State Senator Bob Deig. We invite Hoosiers to elect more Democratic legislators this November who will put families before utility profits for a change.”

Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons poses a serious threat to the United States, our allies, and stability in the Middle East, but under our Constitution, the authority to declare war rests solely with Congress, not the President acting alone.
This Administration’s unilateral declaration of war has placed our brave servicemembers in harm’s way without Congressional authorization. I am praying for their safety and remain steadfast in my commitment to bring them home.
I supported today’s War Powers Resolution because I believe the Administration’s actions raise serious constitutional concerns. Their justification for military action has shifted repeatedly, and they have admittedly acknowledged that the United States was not facing an imminent threat. The American people deserve transparency, clearly defined objectives, and a coalition of supportive international partners.
There is an immediate need for Congress to reassert its constitutional responsibility, provide oversight, and develop a clear strategy that protects our national security while preventing an open-ended military engagement.
As the Fiscal Year 2027 budget is submitted and the appropriations process begins, I will continue working with my Congressional colleagues to ensure accountability, support our servicemembers and their families, and uphold the constitutional balance of powers that defines our democracy.

The United States should not be dragged into another senseless war without the consent of the American people.
That’s why I’m a cosponsor of the Iran War Powers Resolution and will vote YES today. The American people deserve debate and transparency before sending our troops into harm’s way.

Tonight, we concluded the 2026 legislative session. House Democratic Leader Phil GiaQuinta (D-Fort Wayne) released the following statement recapping this session:
"Indiana ended up with a few singles and a whole lot of strikeouts this session. Statehouse Republicans made redistricting an emergency when Washington, D.C. came knocking, but they couldn't be bothered to treat the cost of living like an emergency the past eight weeks. All session, House Democrats fought for real policy solutions that would have provided big, immediate financial relief to struggling Hoosier families, from utility bills to health care. House Republicans blocked every attempt.
"House Democrats will continue fighting for an Indiana that every Hoosier can afford."

I will not be attending Trump’s State of the Union.
The American people already know what the state of our union is. It is marked by frustration, rising costs, and deep exhaustion. Families are stretched thin by higher prices. Communities are disturbed by fatal immigration enforcement tactics. And working people are watching the wealthiest Americans benefit while the middle class is left behind.
I will not participate in a spectacle that doesn’t address the real issues and challenges facing our country. I will not help fill the audience to create any impression of support for Trump’s failed policies.

As we approach tonight’s State of the Union address, I remain focused on confronting this Administration’s actions that undermine our constitutional liberties, obstruct the implementation of federal funding laws, and are devastating the budgets of Northwest Indiana families with skyrocketing grocery and utility costs.
The House Appropriations Committee and the legislative branch has demonstrated our ability to work in a bicameral and bipartisan fashion to solve problems, conduct oversight, and provide funds and direction to federal agencies. The Supreme Court and judicial branch has also demonstrated its ability to reign in certain tariffs that are causing groceries and expenses for farmers to remain high.
The co-equal legislative and judicial branches have taken appropriate and reasoned actions to provide direction and hold this Administration accountable, but more must be done.
I am steadfast in my opposition to open borders and believe that we must move without delay to reach an agreement to fund the Department of Homeland Security with commonsense guardrails, including mandating body cameras for federal agents, requiring agents to be clearly identifiable, and guaranteeing constitutionally protected due process for all individuals in custody.
I look forward to then beginning the Fiscal Year 2027 appropriations process and continuing my efforts to bring federal investments to Northwest Indiana that strengthen public safety, support economic development, and alleviate cost concerns for working families in Northwest Indiana.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Minnesota.
We need untrained federal agents off of our streets and Americans’ First and Second Amendment rights protected.

I told the White House the state must lead the investigation.
Let state investigators secure justice. As we process the scene, stay peaceful and give them space.
The State has the personnel to keep people safe – federal agents must not obstruct our ability to do so.

Political violence is never the answer. Today marks 15 years since the horrific attack on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords that killed six innocent people. As a target of political violence myself, I proudly support the resolution honoring the survivors and lives lost on this day in 2011 in Tucson, AZ.
