Calling all Wheelers ‼️ @WalkWheelCycleT your help. Whether you’re arranging a day out or meeting friends for coffee, planning the journey shouldn’t feel like a military exercise. Will there be dropped kerbs? Are there steps on my route? How wide is the pavement? 😤 lnkd.in/p/eEMEapvF

Of course they are. Meanwhile the surrounding roads will be gridlocked. Well done Lord Khan - not!
Cyclists are continuing to ride along the newly pedestrianised section of Oxford Street, despite being asked to dismount. Around seven security staff have been stationed near Oxford Circus, calling out to cyclists to get off their bikes, with mixed success. Thank you @AdamGabsiLDN for supporting our mass petition against floating bus stops @10DowningStreet with your message @andyburnham ‘For the halt & removal of bus stop bypasses. They creating a danger an additional barrier to disabled people, to blind & partially sighted people’

The changes on Oxford Street are almost certainly a complete failure, the construction phase has already proven a disaster for the #disabled, We've heard time and again how traffic consultants claim traffic dissolves on LTN boundary Roads, it doesn't. I don't envy emergency services in the area or anyone needing them.

It’s a given that Oxford Street will have diversity barriers.

The only defence of floating bus stops and excluding blind people from their buses that the @MayorofLondon has, is that cyclists shouldn’t break the law. But the data shows there is almost zero enforcement! thetimes.com/uk/transport/ar… @laurencesleator

Ironic, measures (hire e-bikes) Intended to reduce CO2 emissions obstruct others from doing their bit to reduce CO2 emissions.

No it’s not. People need buses to travel and black cabs for accessibility. Removing them from the street will prevent access for all. It’s a backwards step.

Just like car drivers these cycling offenders need to be fined or arrested if names can not be verified…..

This was entirely predictable. Cyclists aren't going to want to waste time and energy diverting down the side streets with all the obstacles and traffic lights. As usual the impact of new travel restrictions hasn't been properly thought through.

They haven't just diverted buses from Oxford Street; they've actually cut back several routes across central London. Along with restricted access for cars, taxis and cyclists this is hugely inconvenient for large numbers of transport users, including those with mobility issues.

@JohnLThornton this design is also #BS8300-1 compliant, the entire concept of a floating bus stop isn't. Pedestrians don't have to cross cycle lanes to access the it, bus pulls up to the curb so the deployable ramp isn't too steep and pavement width is 2m as required by the BS.

Pedestrians are top of the hierarchy of road users in the Highway Code, this is clearly not working, @transportgovuk need to make their rules work and pavements usable.

Me too, I cycled long before there were any cycle lanes in the UK and anyone demanding them. As a former cyclist I would have hated much of this cycle infrastructure, I find much of this infrastructure both anti cyclist and anti pedestrian.
