East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service (ESFRS) has successfully prosecuted an estate agency and its sole director for failing to comply with lawful requests for information under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

🔥 The RP chooses their competent assessor, not their enforcing officer.
When enforcement advice contradicts the evidenced assessment, who carries the risk?

Nobody knows if they will become #disabled, to get a built environment that works for all should be priority. When I adapted my home it was pot luck that it was possible and affordable, these were two of the concerns expressed by renters when faced with the need for home adaption. property118.com/tenants-fear…
How do renters feel about asking their landlord for home adaptations? More than a third of tenants would worry about securing their landlord’s permission if their home needed adapting to support a loved one. lnkd.in/p/e9mFSAA6
When someone calls 999, they may be experiencing one of the most difficult moments of their life. Behind that call is a highly skilled professional providing reassurance, gathering vital information and helping to ensure the right response is there when it matters most.
To mark International Control Room Week, Phil Garrigan, Chair of the National Fire Chiefs Council, has shared a message of thanks to Fire Control colleagues across the UK:
“The calm, professional voice that answers a 999 call can make an enormous difference. lnkd.in/p/enmNiKEC
If one of your disabilities is aphonia? Making #disabled people phone a venue in advance is just discrimination pure and simple.
Let's ensure equal access to online ticket booking for Disabled people to attend events. Many Disabled people have to still phone venues to explain their access needs. Sign Alex Sweeney's petition. Closes 9 December buff.ly/P7uAOPa

We are often faced with people telling us that cycle infrastructure works in the Netherlands. However this news item on 15/10/19 shows the reality.

Guiding principle 2: Communication and support
Services and travel information should be accessible and easy to navigate and
support should be available, especially when things go wrong through delay or breakdown.

Yet more ammunition against LTNs.
Lambeth Council's own report has found the West Dulwich LTN resulted in “no significant traffic reduction” but increased congestion on boundary roads.
The courts found that the Council had acted illegally when installing it & ordered its removal.

This is the post that resulted in Labour MP Apsana Begum blocking me.
No abuse. No swearing. No slurs.
I simply questioned her priorities as a British MP and highlighted the embarrassing community note attached to her latest post about Bangladesh.
The irony is remarkable.
Labour politicians repeatedly complain about misinformation on X, yet here is one of their own MPs being publicly challenged through community notes.
Rather than face scrutiny from a British voter, Apsana Begum decided to hit the block button.
That speaks volumes about her ability to handle criticism.
We have a generation of increasingly thin skinned politicians who seemingly cannot tolerate being questioned by the very public they are paid to represent.
Being an MP is a position of public service.
If you cannot handle criticism on social media, how can you be trusted to handle the pressures of public office?
Labour MP Apsana Begum is back on X talking about Bangladesh. Again.
She's paid nearly £100,000 a year to represent her British constituents.
Now her latest post has attracted a rather embarrassing community note, “Apsana Begum is a UK MP. Due to the huge amounts of posts about issues in Bangladesh it is important that her constituents realise she is supposed to be representing them.”
Another Labour MP publicly embarrassed through X's community notes.
Her constituents are entitled to ask where her priorities lie.
The shear number of near misses, if this were any other form of transport there would be justifiable and overwhelming outrage. How is a blind person expected to cope, they can't see or hear the cyclists.
Even the emergency services having to divert, this is in the interest of nobody.
I hope those bollards are far enough apart to let #wheelchairs and prams etc through. This is a result of letting illegal migrants into the country, we can't use the built environment as normal.

Un uomo di 83 anni stava per andare a dormire quando sua moglie, 81 anni, gli disse:
«Caro, mi sembra che abbiamo lasciato accesa la luce del garage. Puoi andare a spegnerla?»
Potete mandare qualcuno?»
Dall’altra parte risposero:
«Abbiamo preso nota dell’indirizzo, signore, ma al momento non abbiamo pattuglie disponibili. Manderemo qualcuno appena possibile.»
L’anziano riattaccò, guardò nuovamente dalla finestra e rimase a pensare per un paio di minuti.
Poi richiamò la polizia.
«Buonasera, sono quello dei ladri nel garage. Non preoccupatevi più, ho risolto il problema. Ho sparato a tutti e sei.»

On World Spina Bifida & Hydrocephalus Day it's more important than ever for disabled people to be seen & celebrated.
I'm thankful for everyone on here who is an ally. Disabled people are taking a real battering just now but we need to stick together & be proud of who we are. 💜
I would just boycott them, a poppy is not a political symbol but a sign of respect and thankfulness for those that sacrificed their lives so that there could be a Wetherspoons.
I find it remarkable that this is even a debate.
I'm a regular Wetherspoons customer. I visit almost daily for breakfast.
A British pub chain should be supporting British values and traditions, not turning its back on them.
During the World Cup, my local Wetherspoons had Pride flags displayed. I remember having to explain to my child what the flag represented, and how it is not a country.
Yet we're now seeing someone being refused entry to a Wetherspoons for wearing a poppy?
The poppy is a symbol of remembrance for those who sacrificed their lives for our country.
There should not be a single pub, shop or establishment anywhere in Britain where wearing a remembrance poppy is banned.

Plenty of money for bike tracks with a negative cost to benefit ratio.
Irresponsible cyclists need to be punished not just a few spoken to by security guard who do not have police powers.
Cyclists are continuing to ride along the newly pedestrianised section of Oxford Street, despite being asked to dismount.
Around seven security staff have been stationed near Oxford Circus, calling out to cyclists to get off their bikes, with mixed success.
