June has been unexpectedly a very grateful month. Third article on AI and geopolitics :) Happy that I pursued an idea that might have its way: India needs an AI dimension in its Act-East Policy. Glad to have co-proposed some ideas on this industry policy pivot with @AVIRAL96 Read on @Diplomat_APAC: thediplomat.com/2026/06/the-… cc @ThisIsSoliman @adityajakki @harshmadhusudan @RupakChatto @RMantri @d_extrovert @jppjagannath1 @GenevieveDonn

Also explains India's "tech policy" landscape, esp. how US-India people to people ties' mirror effect damages Indian AI startups' real concerns. Problem hi wahi hai.
I have come to the conclusion that a lot of the Indian tech elite see themselves in the mirror and see a white person. then they reach America.

Friction. Friction. Friction. is the new Distribution. Distribution. Distribution. AI is rapidly eroding many of the moats we built businesses around in the pre-AI world. So what's left to build around? Increasingly, I think the answer is friction. Domain-specific complexity. Licenses. Regulation. Compliance. Cross-border rules. Messy workflows. Fragmented stakeholders. Physical-world dependencies. If your business doesn't have meaningful friction embedded in the problem it solves, it's becoming much harder to build something defensible. Pre-AI, we ran away from friction. We wanted simple, scalable, frictionless businesses. Post-AI, the very friction we once avoided might be what makes a business valuable and defensible. Of course, the goal isn't to create friction. It's to remove it for customers while building capabilities that are hard for competitors to replicate. Friction might now be as important as distribution was in the pre-AI world.

Blast from the past: ISAIL's infamous 2022 Handbook on AI and International Law completed 5 years. 5 years ago, the legendary Gregor Strojin, former Co-Chairperson, ad hoc AI Committee for the Council of Europe - authored a foreword for this crazy handbook. Here's his foreword: linkedin.com/pulse/foreword-… ISAIL has been in Indian AI policy before ORF, ILTN, Carnegie India and many others. Sorry for stating the obvious. We will share more history nuggets as ISAIL becomes properly 7 years old (legally) and 8 years old (conceptually) on November 16. :D

Well, I resonate with that, considering endless of my own trysts with it.
I hate early morning flights. That’s the tweet.

While I do bat for the latter more here - I am bullish for some hope that people develop better inter agent guardrails and other measures to keep the ownership of their discovery processes to themselves. It is not a big deal necessarily but still could be a hurdle in formalising bio and chem.
If you're relying on synthetic data and current LLMs to do your AI+Science, youre betting that your models will formalize scientific fields like chem and bio eventually. If you're relying on multimodal real data and world models for AI+Science, then you're betting that these fields won't formalize soon I'm on the latter, so these breakthroughs, while notable represent progress in existing formalized fields

I have realised my mind feels English is the lingo of realisation while Hindi is the lingo of acceptance. It also means it can work backwards too. English for me can be the language of disillusionment or bullshit tracking easily, while Hindi can be the language of rejection or irritated distraction. Haha, that's what native languages do to you heheh :) Glad I am not a macaulayputra even if I am a classicalist.

Your answer lies in this one quantification: How many first-time home owners China created in its cities and how many in India? Our real estate bubble is a curse on the majority, graduating from LIG to MIG.
🇨🇳 China took just 9 years to go from $2 Tn to $10 Trillion 🇮🇳 India took 12 years to go from $2 Tn to just $4.2 Trillion What went wrong ??

THE AGI SERIES: Five experiments in understanding what the tech bros have unleashed For years, Silicon Valley told us AI would cure cancer, solve climate change and make everyone richer. Now, the people building it seem increasingly worried that it might kill us. Which is quite the product update. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been exploring AI Armageddon, Chinese AI, rogue agents, Silicon Valley’s rather Pakistani business model and, most recently, the discovery that even God might have a role to play in saving humanity from its digital overlords. Five deep dives for The Times of India: 1. Was the Hugging Face attack AI’s Agent Smith moment? timesofindia.indiatimes.com/… 2. ‘I don't want to be murdered by Chinese AI’: Is Big Tech conning us with doomsday predictions? timesofindia.indiatimes.com/… 3. Will AI ‘kill’ all humans? Decoding the conspiracy theories timesofindia.indiatimes.com/… 4. Did Anthropic borrow its business model from Pakistan’s foreign policy? timesofindia.indiatimes.com/… 5.
