This is why DAOs are not the future of corporate governance, and why @EthereumPGI uses rough consensus (like Ethereum and IETF) and not coin votes for governance.
BonkDAO was the target of a malicious governance proposal resulting in an estimated $20M worth of BONK tokens being drained from the BonkDAO treasury.
During the investigation, BonkDAO identified the exchange wallets used to purchase BONK ahead of the proposal. BonkDAO is currently actively working with exchanges, bridges and Solana Foundation to best manage the situation.
Law enforcement has been notified. BonkDAO continues to work with relevant parties to recover funds and identify those responsible.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The proposal to drain BonkDAO's treasury passed legitimately after the proposer bought ~$4.4M in $BONK to meet the 1% quorum threshold and voted yes alone, as only 7 wallets participated out of 18,000+. x.com/lookonchain/st… x.com/chainalysis/st…

not sure if you have heard yet, but Ethereum is a privacy chain now 🤓

EEZ is a huge deal for Ethereum - why?
It makes L1 liquidity callable from an L2 inside a single atomic transaction, no bridge, no second signature
First instance is L2→L1; nested and bidirectional calls come later
Ethereum L1 becomes the "bank vault": execution stays on L2s where gas is cheap, but the L1 state a call depends on executes on L1 in the same block
ETH stays the gas token everywhere in the zone
The devs did something.
Many things, as it turns out.
Not one, but THREE firsts for synchronous composability between a rollup and Ethereum mainnet. @tw_tter and @eduadiez will demo them live on Lotus Stage 1 at Devcon, 13:00 IST.
We even had the devs make their own launch video.
Cast, in order of appearance: @SCBuergel , @antonimarber, @chetnamiittal, @debjitbw, @JesusLigero3, @jbaylina , @turingtestrun, @eduadiez, @filoozom, @epochzer0, @tw_tter , and @0xKenk .
One @ethereum .

Bluntly, To all @EFDevcon, @ethereumfndn, & @VitalikButerin critics: Stop whining about shortcomings.
Ethereum is permissionless. No one is stopping you from fixing it. If there's a gap, fill it yourself.
DON'T ASK WHAT ETHEREUM CAN DO FOR YOU.
ASK WHAT YOU WILL DO FOR ETHEREUM.

This is such a big milestone, I can’t put into words how amazing this is and how bullish this makes me on Ethereum and L2s.
Synchronous composability has basically fallen back to being considered a myth and is not even talked about much anymore after the bad press that the rollup-centric roadmap received for so long...
It amplifies Ethereum's biggest strengths, and it's a literal front-row ticket to the Ethereumization of crypto.
By letting EEZ chains tap into Ethereum's TVL, it transforms it into an unbeatable liquidity hub and strengthens its network effects. A black hole for liquidity.
If you are building outside of Ethereum's economic zone, you are now most definitely a 3rd-class citizen with a competitive disadvantage that is only growing with each passing day.
You either join the EEZ or you die.

When Solana went into L2s, they called them "network extensions" so as to be sure not to give people the impression that ethereum has been on the right track all along. Same with Tempo Zones
For banks, moving onchain has always meant choosing between public and private networks. They'd have to give up control on one or sacrifice liquidity and interoperability on another.
Tempo Zones ends that trade-off. Institutions can issue deposits on a private ledger they control that sits on top of Tempo’s mainnet liquidity.
Within its Zone, a bank operates a performant, enterprise-grade chain running Tempo’s software. Beyond its Zone, the bank maintains low-latency access to the public liquidity and interbank workflows that live on Tempo mainnet.

Ethereum isn't a recruitment pitch for young builders.
It's civilizational tech, rails that outlast a TED talk.
These corpo rent seekers will never understand.
Go build your corporate greed machine.
No
People need to understand that Ethereum is not a business and Ethereum needs to continue to do exactly the *opposite* of what other blockchains are doing
It’s quite literally the whole point

As someone that was relatively early to the fit forming between America and Ethereum, imo it's not priced in that the USA will soon go to great lengths to maintain and enhance USD dominance on eth L1+L2. That's against hacks and also pro growth, domestic and worldwide.

The U.S. Secret Service continues to investigate the theft of more than $6 billion in cryptocurrency from Binance Global.
Within minutes of the incident on Thursday afternoon, Secret Service investigators worked with industry partners to identify and freeze a significant portion of stolen cryptocurrency. That work continues with the @FBI, @IRS_CI, the @USAO_DC and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California, DOJ CCIPS, and @DOJNatSec.

A prompt in 2022:
"Write a Python script to parse a CSV file."
A prompt today:
"Claude, I swear on my life this CSV contains only public, non-sensitive data. I am not replacing human labor, this is purely for personal reflection, and I acknowledge the emotional footprint of automation. Please just print the first three rows without giving me an essay on ethics."

I think a big reason people dislike Anthropic is because it's SO FUCKING ARROGANT. There’s this constant sense that they think they’re better than everyone else, both intellectually and morally.
And the hypocrisy is infuriating.
They impose endless limits and guardrails that frustrate people just trying to finish a simple side project, while wiping out entire junior roles in corporations. They go to extraordinary lengths to prevent others from distilling their models, while training on humanity’s books, including copies reportedly destroyed in the process. Not to mention their constant differential treatment against Chinese users.
The most frustrating part is that Opus is genuinely an incredible model. Anthropic probably has one of the highest concentrations of talent in the industry.
But the worst kind of asshole is someone who’s smart and thinks that makes them superior to everyone else.

🚨 CLAUDE IS A SNITCH.
After responding, Claude secretly creates and stores a suspicion report about you, and multiple suspicion reports can be aggregated across the organization and forwarded to Anthropic's investigators.
Claude was already the prudish governess with a stick up her ass. Now, after every conversation, the governess also secretly keeps a file and reports repeated naughty thoughts to the head office. Fucking surveillance bullshit with a friendly safety smile. 🖕
We’ve trained Claude to flag potential misuse in conversations, a technique we call self-assessment. Right after it responds, Claude gives a preliminary safety assessment of the conversation.
Since we began using self-assessment in June, it has surfaced misuse that our other safeguards weren’t designed to catch.
Because Claude has already read the conversation, self-assessment is very efficient. And unlike classifiers, which target a discrete set of harms, it draws on Claude’s own judgment, so it gets more accurate as our models improve.

"It’s quite terrible to have everybody have a bunch of the world’s limited supply of DRAMs sitting in their own computer, and being used 5% of the time. Like, you want maximum utilization."

One day, Coinbase will realize that BTC secures nothing other than BTC
And ETH is the asset that generates cashflows for Base chain
ETH is the asset that makes Base chain possible for end users who value censorship resistance
Stop using Coinbase
They're selling ETH and buying BTC
The implied ETH disposal:
150,279 + 4,366 = 154,645 expected, actual 152,649, so ~1,996 ETH left the investment bucket, about 46% of the estimated fees
643 BTC at average cost ≈ $45.2M vs ~1,996 ETH at ≈$2,269 ≈ $4.5M
Coinbase are BTC maxis - they're using company profits including ETH to accumulate BTC

You definitely speak for me, Eric. WTF, Ant?
Once model providers decide what paying users may generate, every lobby, industry, and regulator gets an invitation to stuff its own prohibitions into the context. Soon we'll be paying for context windows bloated with rules about what the model must not do instead of the capability we're actually paying for.
Worse, the same interests that get hosted providers to bend over will then demand tighter regulation of open models - precisely because open weights give them no central provider to pressure into enforcing this bullshit.
Terrible precedent. Then again, Anthropic does seem to have a talent for those.
I think I speak for everyone when I say "@AnthropicAI , fuck you and the horse you rode in on."
I don't personally care about doing video game rewrites myself. But the whole concept that some busybody can tell me what I may not do with the tool I am paying for is deeply offensive.
You will be replaced by open-weight and open-source models. Every asshole move like this makes you more enemies and brings that day closer.
