Dear Users,
13 years of work. More than 80 apps. Wiped out overnight.
In Apple’s sole opinion, one of our apps could potentially be seen as similar to an existing website. They gave us no warning, no option to remove the “questionable” app. They just flagged our developer account for termination and permanently removed all 80+ of our apps from the app store.
The consequences reach far beyond this one app. Unrelated officially licensed apps we develop for NBA and NHL players are also unavailable. Updates are blocked. Clients and fans are left stranded.
We believe developers should have a meaningful opportunity to resolve app issues before losing an entire business. There must be a better way than to have Apple be the sole judge, jury and executioner, based solely on their opinion.
Destroying an entire 13-year business over one potentially questionable app isn't policy enforcement, it's misguided persecution. We are not scammers. We are a legit long standing business. We strongly disagree with Apple's decision, its "reasoning," and its entire inequitable app resolution process.
Thank you for standing by us. We’ll keep you updated.

United States Senator @SenAlexPadilla just posted “INVESTIGATE ELON MUSK.”
That’s it. No specific allegation. No evidence. Not even an explanation of what he wants investigated.
Apparently, identifying a political enemy is sufficient grounds to demand an investigation.
Maybe I should post “INVESTIGATE SENATOR ALEX PADILLA” with no explanation and see how he likes it.
Senator, investigate Musk for WHAT?

"On a technical level, the paper is unbelievable, maybe beyond what a human could have come up with but not beyond human understanding: there are several different groups of pde experts working on understanding it who say that they more or less understand now."
"Some on these ideas are in the literature (e.g. Leibovich-Stewartson 1983) but the way they are combined is definitely insane and definitely nowhere in the literature previously.
I also don't know of anyone suggesting that convex integration would play a role in the creation of a blow-up solution like this."
Since I'm now blocked by bluey from replying to this thread, I answer here by quote tweet
the openAI construction has more to do with convex integration than anything else.
In convex integration, the oscillations are typically built by hand and the iteration procedure creates wild weak solutions. The non-uniqueness construction of Albritton–Brué–Colombo used an unstable vortex to split solutions apart. The Córdoba–Martínez-Zoroa singularities amplify vorticity across scales by strain. In the openAI paper, a fluid instability is clever made so that the flow itself generates the oscillations: they grow by drawing energy from the background shear. The Reynolds stress then becomes the force that creates the collapsing smooth vortex. Using a physical instability to create the stress in this way has no precedent, and it is what produces a smooth force rather than a merely rough one.
Some on these ideas are in the literature (e.g. Leibovich-Stewartson 1983) but the way they are combined is definitely insane and definitely nowhere in the literature previously.
I also don't know of anyone suggesting that convex integration would play a role in the creation of a blow-up solution like this.

td;lr: anyone saying that this OAI result is unsurprising is bullshitting

NEW: Ilhan Omar, whose husband's firm accepted $11.25m from an Indian billionaire in 2024, told Chris Hayes last week she struggles to pay rent for her 2 homes.
Her claim defies belief—since 2023, Omar has accepted $118k in taxpayer funds to pay for her DC rent and daily meals as part of a little-known fringe congressional benefit. This is on top of her $174,000 salary.

60 Minutes wants you outraged that Trump deported a man with a final removal order from 2012.
The real scandal is that it took 14 years. Withholding of removal only bars deportation to one country, yet only 1.6% of recipients ever leave - even though they have a final order of removal.
I explained how this functions as backdoor amnesty at Natcon last year. This is the same loophole that the Maryland Man, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, exploited.
Thankfully, Trump is finally ending it.

No world exists where "Yeah. I've been swinging this hammer for a solid month." should be translated in the English dub to "I know. It's been like a month and I'm still pounding this hammer like it's your mom." This type of humor feels jarringly out of place.
