On my way to the ground in Delhi and my heart sank when I saw people feeding a whole army of pigeons. Doctors have been shouting from the rooftops about the dangers of inhaling pigeon droppings and the severe lung disease it could lead to. Please, let us stop feeding pigeons.

As Justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka retires today from the Supreme Court, his very name—Abhay, meaning fearless—aptly reflects his judicial legacy. I fondly recall his tenure as Chief Justice of Karnataka, during which I had the privilege of appearing before him as the petitioner in several Public Interest Litigations. Justice Oka’s unwavering perseverance and deep commitment to justice were particularly evident during the hearings of the COVID-19 PIL, in which I was the petitioner. By invoking Articles 226 and 21 of the Constitution, My Lord’s timely and decisive interventions saved countless lives across Karnataka. Under his direction, crucial measures were implemented—transparent hospital bed allotment systems, public display boards for bed availability, and effective allocation of oxygen and vaccines. He was the first to ensure a fixed quota of oxygen for Karnataka, a step that proved lifesaving. I vividly remember the fierce urgency in his eyes during hearings, especially after the tragic deaths of around 30 people in Chamarajanagar due to oxygen shortage. When a deceased individual was reportedly left unattended outside Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru, it was Justice Oka who first underscored the sanctity of human dignity—even in death—affirming it as a fundamental right. His concern for the common people and his dedication to justice delivery were beyond question. Even in the face of opposition, when the matter of transferring the investigation of the Bengaluru riots to the NIA arose, Justice Oka demonstrated rare judicial courage and foresight by approving the transfer, recognizing the sensitivity of the situation. Justice Oka will be remembered for one defining attribute above all—a spine of steel. Wishing him a fulfilling and peaceful retirement. #JusticeOka

India’s Foreign Secretary. Know him. #VikramMisri India produces such patriots of brilliance who serve their country with total dedication. From Ashes to Authority: Vikram Misri and the Rise of a Silenced People There are stories that history forgets, not because they lack pain—but because they are too quiet, too dignified to scream. The story of the Kashmiri Pandits is one such tale—of a community ripped from their roots, their temples desecrated, their homes abandoned in the dead of night, carrying nothing but faith and a fading photograph of what once was. A community exiled in their own country, silenced by fear, and forgotten by time. And yet—they rose. Not with protests. Not with revenge. But with books, belief, and backbone. In the face of unimaginable pain, they clung to knowledge. To discipline. To resilience. One such story is that of Vikram Misri—a boy born in Srinagar on 7 November 1964, into the serene, intellectual world of Kashmiri Hindus. His early life echoed with the sounds of temple bells and the scent of chinars. But that peace was shattered by a storm of militancy that swept through the valley in the late 1980s and 90s—a storm not born of the people, but of political poison fed across the border by Pakistan. Like thousands of others, the Misri family was uprooted—not because they broke the law, but because they simply existed. Because they prayed differently. Because they were marked. But pain did not define Vikram Misri. He did not burn with hatred—he burned with purpose. After finishing his schooling in Burn Hall and Scindia, and graduating from Hindu College and XLRI, he joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1989—the very year many of his own were forced to flee. While others carried guns, he picked up treaties. While others chanted slogans, he studied silence. He went on to serve India in Brussels, Tunis, Spain, Myanmar, and most importantly—as Ambassador to China during one of India’s most delicate security crises, the 2020–21 border standoff. Later, he became Deputy National Security Advisor, and today, he holds the office of India’s Foreign Secretary—a post of immense strategic importance. He has advised three Indian Prime Ministers—Gujral, Manmohan Singh, and Narendra Modi. But even as he sat in the most powerful rooms of the country, a part of his soul always remained in the narrow lanes of Srinagar, with the scent of home that was stolen. Vikram Misri is more than a diplomat—he is a quiet symbol of an entire people who refused to be erased. His rise is not just personal success; it is the triumph of memory over forgetting, of dignity over hate, of perseverance over persecution. And yet, through it all, he has never used his position for vendetta. His voice against Pakistan-sponsored terror is not rooted in bitterness, but in truth. He does not accuse communities—he condemns ideologies of hate, the policies of states that turned Kashmir from a valley of peace into a graveyard of harmony. In Misri, the world sees what the Kashmiri Pandits have always been—builders, thinkers, survivors. They may have been scattered, but they are not shattered. They may have been silenced, but they are not forgotten. Through every speech he makes, every negotiation he leads, and every stand he takes for India’s sovereignty, Vikram Misri carries the spirit of his ancestors—and the pain of a community that once lost everything, except their will to rise.

The Waqf Act must be abolished, not amended. The Waqf act contradicts the Indian Constitution and should be repealed entirely. RT if you agree! #AbolishWaqf #RepealWaqfAct
Waqf amendment act is not answering the issues raised before the JPC. Many of the draconian provisions have been left from legislative amendment exercise. This bill will not solve the problems rather its making it more complicated.

Seth Ramdas Ji Gudwale – The Great Revolutionary and Philanthropist of 1857, Martyred by the British in Unimaginable Cruelty Seth Ramdas Ji Gudwale was a wealthy businessman and banker from Gudwala, Delhi. A close confidant of the last Mughal emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar, he belonged to an Agrawal family that had established the first cloth mill in Delhi. Such was his wealth that a popular saying described it: “Ramdas Ji Gudwale possesses so much gold and silver that he could stop the flow of the Ganges with his riches.” When the flames of the 1857 revolution spread from Meerut to Delhi, Bahadur Shah Zafar was declared the leader of the uprising. With British forces driven out of Delhi, soldiers from various princely states gathered in the city, but soon, food supplies and funds ran scarce. The royal treasury stood empty. One day, in desperation, the emperor placed the queens’ jewels before his ministers. Witnessing this dire situation, Seth Ramdas Ji, a loyal friend of the emperor, stepped forward. Without hesitation, he donated his immense wealth, declaring: “If the motherland is saved, wealth can be earned again.” Beyond financial support, he ensured the continuous supply of flour, grains, sattu, and fodder for the army’s bulls, camels, and horses. Though a businessman by trade, he took up the task of organizing the military and intelligence networks, leaving the British astonished by his efficiency. Seth Ramdas Ji built an extensive spy network across North India, secretly forging ties with numerous soldiers and leaders. His efforts strengthened the revolutionary movement, making him a key force in the fight for independence. The British saw him as a major obstacle to their rule. As Delhi fell back into British control, they recognized that eliminating him was crucial to their dominance. To weaken British troops, he ingeniously placed bottles of poisoned liquor in the markets of Chandni Chowk, causing enemy soldiers to collapse. This act further enraged the British, who resolved to capture him at any cost. Betrayed and arrested through deceit, he met a brutal fate at the hands of the British. Tied to a post, he was left to be mauled alive by hunting dogs before finally being hanged outside Kotwali in Chandni Chowk. Renowned historian Tarachand, in History of the Freedom Movement, wrote: “Seth Ramdas Gudwale was the richest merchant of North India. According to British records, his wealth of pearls, diamonds, and estates was unparalleled, surpassing even that of the Mughal emperors. European markets often discussed his riches.” Yet, his place in history is not due to his immense fortune but his unwavering patriotism and sacrifice in India’s struggle for freedom— a legacy that remains largely forgotten today. Where are these names in the pages of history? Seth Ramdas Ji Gudwale— the great revolutionary and philanthropist of 1857— suffered unspeakable cruelty at the hands of the British, yet his story remains untold.

I'm convinced India will never be able to compete with the US and China in technology if we keep treating it as a spectacle. A bunch of influential folks are organising, Asia’s “largest AI event” in Mumbai later this month, and the speaker lineup has Bollywood celebrities, cricketers, and YouTube influencers. These are people who haven't written a single line of code in their lives. A country doesn't become a technology leader through celebrity endorsements or political speeches. India will never be a technology powerhouse if we parade technology as an accessory. Real AI innovation doesn’t come from celebrity panels—it comes from builders. PhDs, engineers, founders—people who write code, build models, and deploy systems at scale. The US and China didn’t lead in AI because of influencer summits. They did it through university labs, open-source contributions, and startup founders building from first principles. We need to build an ecosystem to listen and learn from builders. Technology isn’t a spectator sport. If India wants to lead, we must put real builders at the center of the conversation.

Rapes and heinous crimes against women won't reduce if you hang rapists. They will reduce when you jail eve teasers and sexual harassers. They will reduce when you prosecute and punish every crime against women. You really think rape is the FIRST crime any man commits against a woman? No. And even more important than all this, as countless women have pointed out, you have to raise your sons better. When you raise them with the entitlement and belief that they are better than their sisters (as quite a few of my friends were raised, and I come from the most progressive community in India), when they daily see their father acting superior and dominating their mothers (as every father does in India, including mine), then you are seeding their minds that men are superior to women. That's how you raise shitty men at best and rapists at worst.
