BREAKING: Having to play your conference opponents can be tough, but only in the SEC, sources say.
NEW: Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian says the SEC is cannibalizing itself with a nine-game conference schedule👀
"Any way you slice it, it’s eight more losses. So if you are fortunate enough to be part of that discussion from the committee, how much is the committee going to value one more conference game in the SEC, right?"
He added: "To some degree we put the cart before the horse."

it’s starting to seems like On3 made up the whole “G6” playoff survey to scare people and send college football into more disarray than it already is
Asked Central Michigan head coach Matt Drinkall in today's availability about the recent @On3 survey which reported the majority of Group of Six coaches being in favor of a separate playoff.
Drinkall doesn't remember getting contacted, but voiced his opposition today:

A quick records update for you:
- Garrison Rippa entered the year 12 field goals behind Gavin Hallford’s career mark of 49, Rippa is 11/14 on the year. Easy math tells me he needs 1 to tie and 2 to stand alone at the top
- Eli Jenkins’ single season total yards record is 3,949, Caden Creel has racked up 2,468 yards up to this point. So if JSU plays in 6 more games he will need to average 246.8 to get there; if JSU only plays in 5 more games he’ll need 296.2
- And then not necessarily a “record” but Jax State has won 9 games in each of its first three seasons at the FBS level. Sitting at 6-2 and looking ahead of the rest of the schedule plus the high likelihood of playing in 14 games puts our Gamecocks in a great position to get to double digit wins for the first time as an FBS member

Can you imagine the “strength of schedule” arguments if they did this?
NEW: Ohio State AD Ross Bjork says the Big Ten is exploring a football scheduling model for 2028 based on the previous year’s standings:
"So next year’s schedule, we would not know who we’re playing other than protecting the rivalry games. Obviously we have the biggest one, right? Other than that the rest of the schedule could be based on how did the teams finish in the previous year. That’s how the NFL does it."

Jax State navigated a promotion to FBS and replacement of head coach during that run.
Pretty impressive given other teams don't have that kind of success once much less repeatedly.

Just look at what this program continues to accomplish:
🏈 25-5 against Conference USA opponents since joining the league in 2023.
🏈 14-1 in weekday CUSA games, including 12 consecutive weekday victories!
🏈 An NCAA-best 66 consecutive games with a rushing touchdown!
🏈 Five straight wins and a perfect 4-0 record in Conference USA this season!
And what a performance by Caden Creel tonight, rushing for 211 yards and setting a Jax State quarterback record!
Congratulations to Coach Charles Kelly, our coaching staff, and especially our student-athletes. These accomplishments are a testament to the culture, hard work, and commitment that make this program so special.
