Very sad to learn that the wonderful Lalo Schifrin has passed on.
He really was such a genius at combining rhythm, texture, instrumentation and melody in such a powerful and unique way. Interviewed him once years before I was a “proper” film composer. He was an absolute gent👇

I was incredibly fortune to be invited to the full sessions for Lalo’s Rush Hour. He was a genius.

This was especially sad to write. Knew him for nearly 40 years, and loved his music for 60. An honor to write about him often, and even produce a "Mission: Impossible" box set a few years ago. Farewell, maestro. variety.com/2025/music/news/…

You know his music. Of course… “Mission Impossible” and “Enter the Dragon,” among countless others.
But, treat yourself to the delicate main title of “Cool Hand Luke” and behold a true master of film scoring at work.
#RIP #LaloSchifrin

It's official, Hans Zimmers' score for Dune Part 2 is ineligible for the Oscars because it uses too much music from Part 1
For reference, as of 2020 scores in a franchise had to have at least 80% new music, exclusive of prior films' themes, to be eligible

Happy birthday, not only to my son, but also to the great David Shire. Shire is a composer we rarely discuss, so I'd like to know what your favourite Shire score is. I have a soft spot for SHORT CIRCUIT. Below is a suite I created from the score.

Find out why Akira Ifukube’s original theme was such an important part of my score for Godzilla: King of the Monsters. 🦖🎶

Andy called it again: Oppenheimer played the music the loudest and the longest. At least his score was much better than his turtleneck tux shirt.

RIP veteran composer Laurie Johnson, who wrote countless theme tunes that are burned into my brain forever, not least the magnificent music for The Avengers TV series. So here's the best title sequence of them all, starring the much missed Dame Diana Rigg. Take it away, Laurie x
