This is the Oxyrhynchus Hymn, dated to the late 200s AD. It is the earliest known Christian hymn manuscript with both lyrics and musical notation. A plain English rendering of the surviving words: “Let all creation be silent. Let the shining stars be still. Let the rushing winds and rivers cease. While we sing to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, let every power answer: Amen, amen. Strength, praise, and glory forever to God, the only giver of all good things. Amen, amen.”

🎬 Recorded in December 1964, this unforgettable two-minute performance was captured in one unedited take—no cuts, no tricks, just pure talent. Every note had to be perfect. Decades later, its raw authenticity remains captivating. ✨

How the Waffle House ordering system works, even without power
I love when a business finds an efficiency that seems crazy. Like Waffle House arranging condiments on the plate instead of using a POS for orders. Then their cooks turn out 4 meals in 3 minutes. What else is like this?

At even a whiff of Russian action, it's pretty clear Romney would have: 1. Established a no-fly-zone over Ukraine, enforced by American aircraft. 2. Threatened immediate and overwhelming sanctions. 3. Promised Ukraine immediate military aid and support. 4. Embedded military advisors in the Ukrainian military. 5. Organized NATO and other willing nations to join in all the above actions. He may have even committed ground troops to secure humanitarian corridors for fleeing refugees in Western Ukraine. In other words, he would have done more than send MREs, which is about all Obama did. And it seems very unlikely that Putin would have done what he did when facing such a clear and strong statement from America and her allies.
I'm not saying that Russia wouldn't have invaded Ukraine if Romney had been elected President... ...no, actually, I'm saying it.

John Mulaney says Michael Jackson wasn’t the only person who grew up without a childhood, because nobody born before 1910 had one perhaps not unique John: “People always go, ‘Oh, poor Michael Jackson, he had no childhood.’ But you know who else didn’t? Anyone born before 1910.” “And they didn’t marry children with a giraffe as a witness.” Conan: “We now know why John was not asked to give the eulogy at Michael Jackson’s funeral.” John: “I had a nice version. I was perfectly willing to call an audible and switch it on the fly.”

CADDYSHACK is one of the greatest comedies ever, especially when you learn Ted Knight was genuinely annoyed with Rodney Dangerfield while making the movie. Knight would rehearse and memorize his lines to a T, while Dangerfield would improv and continue to come up with ad-libbed one-liners. Knight especially hated Rodney's "We're all gonna get laid" line he made up on the spot 😂

NEW: Vivek Ramaswamy was warned by Republicans about the now-infamous Amy Acton mother ad. Asawin Suebsaeng and I dug into the back story of the ad for @zeteo_news and it's worse than you thought. One Ohio Republican said Acton’s elderly mother was “far gone” and visibly unwell when Vivek's team, along with ad firm the Strategy Group, filmed with her. Two people with knowledge of the matter say that even the Ohio GOP’s lieutenant governor candidate, Robert McColley, expressed reservations about the anti-Acton ad – though he is now forced to publicly defend it on the campaign trail.
Republicans Warned Vivek Ramaswamy His ‘Rapist Protector’ Ad Was a Terrible Idea The Ohio gubernatorial candidate was told using Amy Acton’s estranged mother in an ad would backfire. The story of how it came together is even worse than you think. Read: zeteo.com/p/republicans-warn…

CONCLUSION 🧵(1/2): Putin would have the world, and especially the United States, believe that he is somehow holding back from crushing Ukraine, but that he could do so at any moment of his choosing. The opposite is the case. If Putin had had a way of ending the war quickly, he surely would have used it. The effort to field an army large enough to make virtually no gains is costing Putin a fortune, driving up inflation in Russia, and generating increasing social discontent. Fielding a larger army would cost more with no guarantee of materially changing the situation on the front. That is why Putin is holding back at least for now. ⬇️ Putin has likely recognized the folly of trying to drown Ukraine in Russian blood and has instead opted to try to hammer Ukraine into submission with a strategic bombing campaign. The Russians have secured a temporary advantage in the skies over Ukraine through their jet-powered drones and the shortage of Patriot missiles that can intercept their ballistic missiles. But Ukraine is fielding solutions to defend against the jet-powered drones, and it is hardening and decentralizing its infrastructure to survive the ballistic missile strikes (as well as developing its own ballistic missile interceptors, although that effort will take time). The Russian strikes are currently devastating Ukrainian energy and other infrastructure and imposing a brutal cost on Ukrainian civilians—as Putin intends. But there is no reason to think that this strategic bombing campaign will be any more successful than every other strategic bombing campaign in history—all of which have failed to compel a country holding its own on the battlefield to surrender.
It is unclear whether Putin is lying about Russian gains or being lied to by his own military—or both. Russian military correspondents constantly complain of what they call “beautiful reports” that Russian military units send to higher headquarters, claiming gains they have not made. Ukrainian forces say that they have been able to use the Russian military’s own internal culture of lying to their advantage, luring Russian troops into traps because the Russians think that they are moving through territory they control. Leaked Russian military maps show phantom gains, often matching Putin’s claims. The pervasive lying within the Russian military is a problem for Russian soldiers, but likely an advantage for Putin, as it supports his own efforts to present Russian forces as advancing and winning when, in fact, they are doing neither.

This smells on all sides. The Trump administration is considering lifting sanctions on the Russian Direct Investment Fund, the New York Times reports. A US official said the review is part of efforts to improve relations with Moscow and help end the war, while praising fund chief Kirill Dmitriev as a useful intermediary. The fund was sanctioned in 2022, when the Biden administration called it Putin’s “slush fund” and a symbol of Russia’s broader kleptocracy. #Russia

❗Putin reportedly spent most of his call with Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian PM Jonas Gahr Støre discussing Slavic history, while a ceasefire barely came up. The call had been planned for 20 minutes but dragged on for 90. The episode underscores the difficulty European leaders face in trying to back Ukraine while engaging Putin directly ahead of peace talks. #Ukraine
