The way an antisemitic heckler walks out of this Jewish comedian's show when he challenges her is the whole Free Palestine movement in a nutshell. She didn't care about defending Palestinians. She tried to make a Jew feel ashamed for existing, and when it didn't work, she just left. Good riddance.

Did you know the Colosseum was once considered a sacred site by the Church, a consecrated space for centuries? And this little 1675 mural of Jerusalem was painted for the Jubilee that celebrated that moment.

My mom recently said her old boss from work asked for my address, because he wanted to send me something. I thought that was weird, but he was a nice guy. My mom retired ages ago, as did her old boss. Today I got a package in the mail from him. He read in my last monthly email newsletter that I was getting into fountain pens, and he wanted to send his collection to a new enthusiast. I’m dumbfounded. What a TREASURE! There are 3 vintage watermans in here!

One pretty cool geological fun fact is that the Appalachian Mountains, the Atlas Mountains, the Scottish Highlands, the Watkins Range and Scandinavian Mountains were all once part of the same mountain range, the Central Pangean Mountains.

A wood mouse snuck into Celeste the barn owl's nest whilst she was out 🐁 It even hid a snack behind a feather🪶 This story is progressing. The mouse has been back a few times, sometimes with a friend! It's only a matter of time before Celeste catches on! Or is it? 🔗Watch live: robertefuller.com/pages/live…

Poor soil doesn’t have to mean a poor garden—especially when you plant Salvia nemorosa ‘May Night’. This classic meadow sage actually prefers average to lean soils over rich, heavily amended ones. Too much fertility can produce floppy stems and fewer flowers; leaner ground keeps the plant compact and floriferous. Salvia ‘May Night’ shines in tough spots and produces upright spikes of deep indigo-violet flowers in late spring to early summer. Deadhead or shear the spent spikes and it reblooms, often into late summer. The plant forms a tidy clump about 18–24 inches tall and wide, with aromatic, gray-green foliage that deer and rabbits usually leave alone. Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds love it. Growing tips for poor soil •Drainage is non-negotiable. Sandy, gravelly, or rocky soils are ideal. In heavy clay, amend the planting hole with play sand and loose perlite. Or plant it on a slight mound about 1-2 inches above soil level so the roots never sit in the winter wet. Keep mulch off the base of the plant so it dries out. Root rot is the main way this plant fails. •Full sun. Six or more hours daily for the densest spikes and richest color. In hot southern gardens it can take a little afternoon shade. •Water only to establish. Once settled, it’s drought-tolerant. Water deeply and infrequently rather than lightly and often. •Skip the heavy fertilizer. A light top-dressing of compost in spring is plenty. Excess nitrogen encourages soft growth that flops. •Shear after the first flush. Cut spent flower stems back to the basal foliage to trigger a second round of blooms and keep the plant neat. •Cut back old foliage in late winter or early spring. Divide every few years if the center opens up. My favorite use for Salvia May Night is to plant it en masse for a river of violet that anchors a border or use it to light up a dry, sunny slope. It pairs beautifully with other lean-soil toughies like Russian sage, catmint, and ornamental grasses. If your garden soil is more “rocky meadow” than “black loam,” Salvia ‘May Night’ is the perennial that turns that challenge into a long season of color and pollinator activity.

The Hunter’s Moon Traditionally the full moon after the Harvest Moon—has long symbolized preparation, hunting, and the shift toward winter in European, Native American, and Celtic folklore. It was believed to offer bright evening light for hunting, mark a liminal spiritual season near Samhain, and inspire myths involving ancestral spirits, deities, and the Wild Hunt. I took about 50,000 photos through a 14" telescope last night to produce this: A hyper-detailed photo of the full moon. The fidelity of the photo was great enough to allow me to greatly enhance the color, revealing a hidden world of geological diversity.

Migratory shorebirds, dowitchers, ducks, sandpipers - at Roberts Bank in Delta BC Canada this Sunday afternoon 25 October 2026 - someone told me “oh I love how they all get along” but they don’t really 😄 there’s a lot of squabbling and pecking and “You’re in my spot!”
