Important briefing. The Bill doesn't apply in Scotland, but @ScottishLabour MPs can still make their misgivings known to the party whips at Westminster. If you have a @ScottishLabour MP, please contact them and urge them to help #BinTheBill.

Arresting parents for dealing with distress in the family is draconian and a clear breach of Article 8. It's good the Government has chosen Pre Legislative Scrutiny for their conversion Bill, any honest open conversation demonstrates it is unworkable and terrifying.
Two Tavistock whistleblowers warned about its gender clinic long before it closed. Now they are raising the alarm about the draft Conversion Practices Bill. Watch therapists Marcus and Susan Evans explain why it poses serious risks to children, parents and families.

I'll be addressing the pre legislative committee on the draft conversion bill this Thursday on behalf of GMN on the basis of our long form legal analysis of the bill. This legislation makes gays and lesbians second class victims and it ignores and embeds the Tavistock scandal.
1/ Our longform response to the draft conversion practice bill is now available on our website at gaymensnetwork.co.uk/. This bill is broad, unnecessary and offers poorer protection to gay people than existing laws. It is a bill about gender ideology, not gay rights.

The bill: ⚠️ has no defence of reasonableness ⚠️ requires no intention to cause harm ⚠️ has no exception for parents, and only a limited exception for healthcare providers.

This is quite informatively wrong. First, the main claim is just false. No one *has to decide* if they 'love' or 'hate' Hilary Cass. Why think that one does? Why do we have to *hate* or *love* particular people involved in this policy argument, rather than disagree or agree with them? But the assumption made by the poster is obviously operating. *He* likes to denounce people as hateful bigots. There seems to be quite of lot of hating going - hating and demands for hate - on but we don't have to adopt those standards. (Boringly, I agree with Cass about closing the Tavistock, disagree with her about the puberty blockers trial, and agree with her about Sam Hall. There you go)
You hateful bigots really have to decided if you love or hate Cass...

The ingredients for a safeguarding and medical scandal: A group who are ideologically committed to a treatment model irrespective of the evidence + A climate of fear in which concerns are not just dismissed but attract accusations of transphobia + Institutions & individuals focused on protecting their own reputation rather than admitting to mistakes Cases such as GIDS and now WellBN will continue to occur until these issues are addressed. And the problems in gender medicine extend far beyond paediatric services: adults deserve safe and effective care just as much as children.
🚨Hilary Cass has called for an independent inquiry into how Brighton GPs were allowed to prescribe cross-sex hormones to children as young as 12.“There urgently needs to be an investigation of why every system that should have protected children, young people, and indeed young adults has failed,” she told me. The employment tribunal between Dr Sarah Redvers and NHS Sussex has highlighted how regulators and the NHS collectively failed to stop prescribing of puberty blockers and hormones against national guidelines - for years - and how instead the person raising concerns was accused of transphobia and herself investigated. Dr Redvers sat down with me for her only newspaper interview about her treatment in a scandal which, Cass now says, “dwarfs” that of the Tavistock’s GIDS. Me for the Sunday Times… thetimes.com/article/cfde7b4…
