If Syrians did this to a Belgian diplomat in Damascus, Syria would be sanctioned so hard, it’ll make the sanctions on the Assad regime look like child’s play.
If Iraqis did this to a Belgian diplomat in Baghdad, Baghdad would have more craters than the moon.

The Israeli-American Council has formed a protest outside the New York Film Festival premiere of “NAZA.”
The organization has described the documentary as an “anti-Israel” film that “makes serious allegations about the IDF’s conduct in the Gaza Strip while ignoring findings and information that contradict its claims” and fails to present the full “context of the October 7 attack that led to the war.”

Jordan’s King Abdullah II speaking at the UN General Assembly:
"No one in this Assembly should assume its (Israel) ambitions stop at Palestine. This Israeli government's expansionist appetite is now a regional threat. And today, Syria is the warning the international community is choosing not to see.
Repeated incursions, creeping territorial expansion, new facts imposed on the ground, including around vital water resources. Step by calculated step, Israel is testing how far it can go. And every time the international community looks away, Israel learns that it can go even further, across borderlines and legal limits."

Christians in Syria are not being persecuted at all, wtf is this dogshit? You could make this argument about Alawites and Druze, yes buy not Christians
If you're actually concerned about Christians in the Middle East, look at how Israel is ethnic cleansing their historic cities
The European Parliament will send a mission to Syria to examine the situation facing persecuted Christians following an initiative pushed by Spain’s right-wing VOX party.
“Europe cannot look the other way. It must assume its responsibility and clearly condemn a persecution that too many prefer to silence,” VOX said, announcing that it had secured the mission.
Syria ranks sixth on Christian organization Open Doors’ 2026 World Watch List of countries where Christians face the most severe persecution. The organization warns that Christian women and other women from religious minorities face risks of kidnapping, harassment and sexual violence, while fear of retaliation can prevent victims from reporting attacks.
Open Doors also reports that unemployed Christians can face severe difficulties finding work and that those already employed rarely receive promotions. Converts from Islam face particularly intense pressure and can be threatened, assaulted or disowned by their own families.
At this point Arabic dictators can scream, "We demand you do something about extremism among your citizens," and not sound like insane hypocrites.
🇸🇾 EX-SYRIA: 5 DEMOCRATIC STATES — A NEW FUTURE FOR THE SYRIAN PEOPLE
Syria in its present form has produced dictatorship, war, foreign occupation, ethnic tension, terrorism and millions of refugees.
I propose a serious debate about a new political order based on five democratic successor states, built around geography, viable economic centers and the right of people to determine their own future peacefully.
🔵 1. LATakia REPUBLIC
Latakia + Tartous
Capital: Latakia
Major port: Tartous
A Mediterranean coastal republic, open to Europe and the world, guaranteeing equal rights for Alawites, Sunnis, Christians and all other communities.
🟢 2. ALEPPO REPUBLIC
Aleppo + Idlib, west of the Euphrates
Capital: Aleppo
From the Latakia frontier to the Euphrates River. Aleppo should again become the great commercial and industrial center of the northern Levant.
🟠 3. DAMASCUS REPUBLIC
Damascus + Rural Damascus + Hama + Homs
Capital: Damascus
A central Syrian republic built around the historic Damascus–Homs–Hama corridor.
🟣 4. SOUTHERN SYRIAN REPUBLIC
Quneitra + Daraa + Suwayda + the Southern Badia extending eastward to the Euphrates
Capital: Daraa
A southern state stretching from the Israeli and Jordanian frontiers toward the Euphrates and the frontier with Rojava.
🟡 5. ROJAVA REPUBLIC
Territory east of the Euphrates River
Capital: Qamishli
A democratic, pluralistic state for Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians and all communities willing to live together under constitutional government.
The Euphrates River should become one of the great natural borders of the new political order: Rojava to the east, Aleppo and the other western successor states to the west.
But this must never mean ethnic partition or forced displacement.
My five principles for every Ex-Syria state:
✅ No ethnic cleansing
✅ No forced population transfers
✅ Equal citizenship regardless of ethnicity or religion
✅ Democracy, elections, rule of law and minority protection
✅ Borders settled peacefully through negotiation and, where appropriate, internationally supervised referendums
The objective must be peace through self-determination, not another centralized dictatorship trying to rule completely different regions and communities by force.
A new Middle East needs new thinking.
LATakia — ALEPPO — DAMASCUS — SOUTHERN SYRIA — ROJAVA
Five democratic states.
Five partners for peace.
One common commitment to freedom, security and prosperity.
Let the peoples of Ex-Syria decide their future.

This document is clear evidence of open and formalized sectarian policy from the Syrian government. On top of discriminating against non-practising Muslims of course. Not that we didn't know about these policies but being done in such an open way has an added political dimension.
