Eight years ago today, we suffered the deadliest act of antisemitism in American history when a killer entered Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh while people prayed and murdered 11 of our neighbors.
It’s been 2,922 days since the attack, but the pain still lingers in our Commonwealth. Today we offer prayers of comfort to those touched by this violence.
Let today be a moment for action, remembrance, and resolve to combat antisemitism in all forms.
May the memories of Joyce Fienberg, Richard Gottfried, Rose Mallinger, Jerry Rabinowitz, Cecil Rosenthal, David Rosenthal, Bernice Simon, Sylvan Simon, Daniel Stein, Melvin Wax, and Irving Younger forever be a blessing.

The Druze people are the most widely respected people in Israel.
They have chosen peace and co-existence, are some of the highest ranking in the IDF and are beloved by all.
Palestinian nationalists attacking them for choosing peace reveal nothing but contempt for peace.

Eisenkot (n) – surname, orig. North Africa
From Berber aznkʷḍ (“gazelle; young noble man”). Compare Moroccan Arabic أزنكض (ʔazenkaḍ), إزنكاض (ʔizenkāḍ)
Spelling likely distorted by clerks upon immigrants' arrival in Israel due to similarity to German/Yiddish "eisen" (iron)
Abu Ghosh's history has always fascinated me, as it really shows the complexity of the region and the wide ethnic diversity that exists under the surface
An Arab town where the inhabitants are mainly of North Caucasian origin (some say Circassian & Chechen; others say Ingush)
Chaim Weizmann visited in 1920 and was greeted warmly and hosted by the village leadership
I'm in Abu Ghosh, a town near Jerusalem to get a sense of the turnout in the Arab sector; spoke with some people and watched the numbers coming to vote. The sense was a lot of enthusiasm for this election, some hope for change; people were voting for different parties, including Ra'am and also the Joint List and others; most people were very open to discuss their vote and how they see the situation.
They were saying they have been shocked by the last several years, the level of racism and hate; but they hope this can change and said in general they can work with the other parties in Israel, as long as those parties are not racist or hateful;
It was interesting. Many said they are seeing more turnout than in the past. This is a trend across Israel of high turnout.
Abu Ghosh has an interesting history, during the Ottoman period, the dominant Abu Ghosh clan (with Circassian or Chechan roots) was very important along the road to Jerusalem. There are historic sites here and also the Resurrection Church or the Church of the Crusaders in Abu Gosh. A decade ago Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov dedicated a large mosque built with Chechen donations in village.
The idea that Israeli authorities are specifically "profiling" Irish nationals seems far fetched
What is true, however, is that Israel is not letting in far left agitators whose sole intent in visiting is to cause harm to Israeli society
The headline of this article makes it sound like he was just an average tourist — when he emphatically was not
A European Parliament employee who was among three Irish citizens refused entry to Israel this weekend has said he believes authorities are “profiling” Irish nationals. irishtimes.com/ireland/2026/…

On his way to vote, Gadi Eisenkot stopped at the grave of his son, Gal, who was killed in battle against Hamas.
This doesn't get talked about enough in the United States
Israel’s 🇮🇱 President Isaac Herzog @Isaac_Herzog will face one of the most consequential decisions in the history of Israel. He will decide who receives the mandate to form a government.
In a deeply divided Israel, his decision will shape the nation’s future for years to come.
This is an elected official in Ireland who legitimately seems to believe that an anti-Israel hate fest in Dublin is going to be the end of the Jewish people's national aspirations and eternal ties to the Land of Israel
I need people to understand the level of delusional thinking here, because it explains a lot about how and why "Free Palestine" activists behave the way they do
When this Irish man, who threatened innocent Jews in a French supermarket, was first exposed, numerous people insisted that the woman who videotaped him was a liar, who had staged the entire encounter
Because, in their mind, all Jews are liars, seeking to "defame the good name of Ireland."
That's what the "Free Palestine" in Ireland movement truly believes
That's what they mean when they say the antisemitism crisis in Ireland is a "hoax."
They're saying that Jews lie and lie and lie
Patrick, the Irish man who told a Jewish woman that he wish Hitler had finished the job, has been convicted of condoning crimes against humanity and of making death threats.
Remember all the people here accusing the Jewish victim of using the name Paddy as a slur, well now we know she was telling the truth the whole time. Assuming she was lying in the first place is clear racism against Jews. But unfortunately I highly doubt most of them will be doing any introspection on the matter.

He refused to condemn an antisemitic ad that backed him. I don’t think the issue is his faith. I think the issue is the antisemitism.
