me: makes all figure in pdf form, so they are infinitely scaleable without loss of resolution journal: please convert to tiff or eps, both of which look like garbage at the maximum allowed file size. Thanks! me:

So together with @eth @medialab @filecoingreen @bjornlutjens @LucCzech @WWF @fsc_if @SimplexDNA @GainForestNow @CeloOrg @frcamillerivera @DavaExplorer and many more, we build a system to reward local communities for data. End-to-end. And tested it out in Cagwait, Philippines šŸ‡µšŸ‡

All those new AI driven code suggestion tools are a great resource. However, I think a major task now will be to avoid that future programmers just blindly rely on these, as that will lead to replication (and probably self-reinforcement) of suboptimal code. (1/2)

Wide-ranging consequences of priority effects in ecological communities can be surprisingly simple to explain. Accepted @eLife manuscript led by Callie Chappell (@eco_genome) posted today, full online version to follow. elifesciences.org/articles/7…

We’re excited to share our new preprint, with ~200 new genomes from the Roman empire and beyond! We find highly diverse populations, use genetics to reconstruct and quantify individual mobility, and discuss population structure through time! More below! 🧵 biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

BIG part of my dissertation is out today in preprint form! We found that pH is an eco-evolutionary driver of priority effects in nectar microbes 🌻🦠. Check out this thread for major conclusions šŸ‘‡ biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
Wide-ranging consequences of priority effects are daunting if you are an ecologist trying to explain community assembly. But this new preprint led by Callie Chappell (@eco_genome) shows it can be surprisingly simple, with one factor governing much of it. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Super proud to be part of this academic dream collaboration to reinterpret the lack of equitable forest data as an economic opportunity to fund and reward some of the world’s most marginalized communities šŸ’š
