Check out our recent paper in @braincomms: C9orf72 dipeptides activate the NLRP3 inflammasome 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻
With @choyle22, @mere_conjecture, @ComorbidCath, @DNS_UOM, @GJBrainResearch & funded primarily by @AlzSocResearch
Rivers-Auty et al., find that C9orf72 dipeptides cause neuroinflammation in frontotemporal dementia and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and highlight the inflammasome as a therapeutic target. Please read the full paper at: edin.ac/3XMzmyV @DrSarahRyan

Apolipoprotein-E genotyping in formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded post-mortem brain tissue
#neurodegeneration
onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…

ALT Formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded brain tissue held in tissue banks constitutes a valuable research resource, especially when associated with clinical annotations and longitudinal psychometric testing. Apolipoprotein-E (APOE) genotyping is important to fully characterize this resource. A maximum of three years in paraffin was determined for robust APOE genotyping of FFPE tissue using PCR-RFLP.

My buddies @MancBrainBank just reminded me of this nice wee paper showing that extended post mortem delay does not meaningfully impact metrics of tissue quality.
