Serious #Mula river pollution observed upstream of #BlueRidgeTownship in #Hinjawadi #Pune. Looks like some oil or chemical residue is being released in the river. This can cause a major health crisis.
Request your team to review and take action.

Residents of large housing townships near Hinjawadi IT Park have raised alarm over a growing public health threat, alleging that contaminated water is being drawn directly from the heavily polluted Mula river. With no alternative source or municipal pipeline connection, thousands of families say they are forced to depend on river water for daily use, as private tankers cannot meet the massive demand. Park Titan, with about 3,500 flats and 10,000 to 12,000 residents, and Blue Ridge, with 5,000 flats and 17,000 residents, are among the worst affected. Yellow-coloured water keeps flowing from taps, and the yellow-water problem, which usually appears in December or January, started in late September this year. TDS levels are reportedly around 500, even with township filtration systems in place.
Residents say three years of complaints to the gram panchayat, MPCB, PMRDA and the irrigation department, along with a silent march in 2024, have brought no lasting fix. They allege untreated sewage, industrial effluents and garbage keep entering the river, and point to a non-functional MIDC sewage treatment plant. Bloodworms were spotted in tap water in January 2024, and dead fish and an oily film were reported in September. MPCB officials met residents on Tuesday, said notices have gone to PMRDA, gram panchayats and MIDC, and a collector meeting is scheduled this week. The board admitted most villages along the river have no treatment facility, and PMRDA has now planned STPs for them. For families who own homes here and still drink river water, this is not a civic inconvenience, it is a health emergency.

Tomorrow, people will live in Hinjawadi and travel to Baner-Balewadi or Kharadi for work.
Good infrastructure will decide where the next IT companies choose to come.

Punekars are set to march on Sunday, September 6, 2026, to protest against the deafening noise of DJ and loudspeaker setups during the upcoming Ganeshotsav festival. Organized by the 'Punekar Against Loudspeaker' forum, the protest rally is scheduled to begin at 11:00 AM from Balgandharva Rangamandir Chowk. The march will proceed via the Jhansi ki Rani statue and culminate at the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) building. The protestors are demanding strict control over high-decibel noise pollution, effective implementation of existing sound regulation rules, immediate action against violators, and the right to a peaceful environment. The movement has gained widespread momentum following social activist Vidyanand Bapat's recent public opposition to loud DJ systems, which has provided a broad platform for citizens' concerns ahead of the festive season.

Yesterday, we visited #Hinjawadi Police Station, where Hon. PI Pandhare Sir and DCP Jadhav Sir took the time to patiently listen to the concerns of IT employees and the aspirations of #GenZ to hold a peaceful protest.
Despite the short notice, they granted us permission, extended full support for a peaceful demonstration, and emphasized the importance of everyone’s safety. They even made the police station hall available for a quick discussion and coordination meeting.
This constructive and citizen-friendly approach towards #ITEmployees and #ITForum – Forum for IT Employees is truly appreciated.
We sincerely thank PI Pandhare Sir, DCP Jadhav Sir, and the entire Hinjawadi Police team for their support, guidance, cooperation, and commitment to ensuring a peaceful and safe protest.
As today’s protest was called off & put to next week as we need to give heads-up to authorities for infra issues. Following week we will seek permission for protest .
