This is the Nir Oz kibbutz where Hamas terrorists brutally murdered, raped and tortured Israelis three years ago today. Never forget that the pro-Palestinian "protest" marches in London started on October 7, weeks BEFORE any IDF military action in Gaza and WHILE families were still being tortured and burned alive in their homes by Hamas. 🧵⬇️
Today I visited the home of the Bibas family. On 7 October, Hamas terrorists stormed into the Nir Oz kibbutz close to the Gazan border. Out of a community of 400 people, 117 were murdered or kidnapped. All but 6 of the 220 houses were set on fire - mostly with families inside. Among those kidnapped were Yarden and Shiri Bibas and their sons, Ariel, 4 and Kfir, 9 months old. Only the father, Yarden, survived. Ariel's tricycle still sits in the garden. 💔

This man is a hero. Captain Smit Machchhar, the Indian captain of flydubai Flight 1073, fought back after being stabbed in the cockpit. Despite being severely injured, he managed to unlock the cockpit door - allowing Israeli passengers and the Emirati crew to intervene and save all the passengers. Together, their extraordinary courage saved 174 lives. Indian. Israeli. Emirati. Different nationalities. One extraordinary act of courage. 🇮🇳🇮🇱🇦🇪 We wish Captain Machchhar a full and speedy recovery.

UK Foreign Sec @Ed_Miliband opened his announcement of Israel sanctions with "as a proud British Jew." In a BBC intvw today he was asked abt Jews feeling unsafe in synagogues on Rosh Hashana (one of the 2 days when many secular Jews show up). "I don't go to synagogue," he said.

Imagine growing up in absolute dirt poverty in east Tennessee, daughter of a tobacco farmer, going to school wearing rags your mother stitched into a coat, and when you die the British royal family has its military band play your up-the-workers country-pop anthem in tribute.
Remembering the late, great Dolly, who brought joy, comfort and inspiration to so many - including the millions of children given free books through her Imagination Library. We will always ❤️ you.

Every day, for years now, someone asks me the same question: "How much are the Israelis paying you?" As if the only explanation for defending Jews and Israel is a paycheck. The idea that I might simply see this conflict differently doesn't compute for them. What I do is, to me, entirely normal. It only looks strange in a world where hating Jews has become the default setting of the crowd, and staying silent, or joining in, is what passes for sanity. Many are familiar with this photograph from the Lviv pogrom, 1941. Locals — including a child and an adolescent — chase a woman stripped of her clothes, bleeding, terrified, humiliated. The Nazis had spent years demonizing the Jews before this moment. They didn't need to pull the trigger themselves. They just needed to make the target "legitimate," and ordinary people did the rest, voluntarily. Something otherwise suppressed in them came out, and they let it. On October 7, I woke up to the videos. One of them was of Naama Levy, arms zip-tied behind her back, dragged by her dusty hair out of a black jeep. As she was moved to the front of the car, she looked straight into the camera of the man filming her. The back of her trousers was soaked in blood. I saw the cuts on her arms, her bare feet, and I watched a crowd film her while cursing her, spitting on her, hitting her. I wished I did not have an imagination. I wished I could delete what I'd seen before her mother saw it. Weeks later, I flew to Israel for the first time, burning every bridge to a world that was celebrating what I'd watched. I went to Ra'anana and met Naama's mother, Ayelet. We made the first post from Israel asking the world to listen, asking the universe to bring her back alive. I promised her that what Hamas did would haunt them in their graves. Arendt called it the banality of evil, and people needed mental gymnastics to accept what she meant. It's easier to believe monsters do monstrous things than to believe your neighbor might. But human beings are built for both good and evil. What we become is a choice, shaped by the moral compass we build or fail to build. Just like an ordinary person joins a mob to taunt a scapegoat, an ordinary person is capable of standing against it. For some of us, peer pressure is minuscule in comparison with a nagging conscience. That's why the photo above matters, still, 85 years later. The Nazis were defeated in Europe but their legacy is rampant in large parts of the Arab world, especially in Palestinian culture. Fused with a dash of communism and a splash of Jihadism, that legacy morphed into global Antizionism. #October7

Boy George supports Israel and—shockingly—the PaleNazis lose their minds. I’ve always admired (@BoyGeorge). His music, that perfectly tuned voice, his individuality, and his refusal to conform. But today I admire him for something else: courage. Standing up for Israel isn’t easy. Challenging the anti-Zionist narrative comes with abuse, smears and endless attempts to silence you. Seeing someone with his platform refuse to bend gives people like me the courage to keep speaking too. Respect.

Five years ago I had a short story published as part of a collection of political counterfactuals. While the story focuses on John Lennon, our new PM Andy Burnham features as its first character, becoming PM in 2017 - I was almost a decade ahead of reality #BitebackPub #IainDale
Now available to buy in printed or electronic form, my short story about the contribution to politics John Lennon might have made in second half of his life after 1980. Part of "Prime Minister Priti and other things that never happened" from @BitebackPub @IainDale @DuncanBrack

I'm half-Syrian, half-Lebanese, and here's why I can't stand people like Greta Thunberg. She quit school to chase climate activism while millions of children in my region quit school because their families can't afford it. She skips university "for Palestine" while our youth can't afford tuition, transport, or a functioning country to build a future in. She's never had a job; our people can't find one. She travels around the world (on a bicycle, of course) and sails to Gaza on a whim; our people can't get a visa to leave the misery they were born into. She has the luxury of adopting foreign causes; we don't have the luxury of just one problem. Millions of us live abroad because that's the only way to build a sustainable life. She acts like suffering belongs to Palestinians alone, while everyone in the Middle East lives in hell too, and it's not because of capitalism or climate change. It's because of a destructive ideology that uses the Palestinian cause as its tool. And like Khamenei, like Sinwar, like Arafat before her, she wears the keffiyeh — the uniform of that ideology, not a symbol of peace. Then there's the shirt: "Yalla Intifada." The First Intifada (1987–1993) began as a mostly grassroots uprising — strikes, boycotts, stone-throwing — and still killed roughly 1,100 Palestinians and 160 Israelis. The Second Intifada (2000–2005) was a different animal entirely: a sustained campaign of suicide bombings that ripped through Israeli buses, cafés, and markets, deliberately targeting civilians. It left close to 3,000 Palestinians and 1,000 Israelis dead. "Intifada" doesn't mean "ceasefire." It doesn't mean "peace talks." It means uprising by force, and the second one was defined by terror attacks on ordinary people. So while Greta claims to be protesting an alleged genocide, the slogan on her chest is a celebration of the exact kind of violence that killed thousands, most of them Palestinian. She isn't standing against death. She's wearing merchandise for it. @GretaThunberg #Intifada #Israel

Our prime minister-to-be and a known anti-Semite brazenly telling lies in our post-truth world. There is and has been no genocide in Gaza, only a country fighting to preserve itself against fanatical attack.
Disgusted partly with what our coup leader says in this interview but also that he’s so afraid of his ideas being challenged that his first ‘big’ interview is with a footballer turned crisp salesman.

Starmer “recognised a Palestinian state” while hostages were still trapped in’ f*cking tunnels and Hamas still in power. He rewarded terrorism and hostage taking, and that’s not enough? What is acceptable Andy? Destroying Israel and 7 million Jews?

Andy Burnham’s statement changes nothing in the Middle East, but his political capitulation – by the man who once said he’d make his first foreign visit as PM to Israel – changes things profoundly here. His actions will only fan the flames at a time when Jews are paying for the extremism in our midst with their lives. My own personal take on the Andy Burnham statement.
Labour’s initial response to the treatment of Gaza caused huge hurt. We got it wrong and I am sorry for that.

The reason Israel keeps doing well at Eurovision is not that the Israeli government is good at marketing. The Israeli government is, on most days, one of the worst-marketed states on earth. The reason Israel keeps doing well at Eurovision is that millions of people across Europe are watching the same news that other Europeans watch, reading the same op-eds, watching the same celebrities pose in keffiyehs, and have decided, quietly, that they disagree. open.substack.com/pub/henmaz…
