JUST IN: IRGC spokesman said 7 strategic undersea internet cables running beneath the Strait of Hormuz have been placed on its target list and warned that they could be attacked if another war breaks out. The cables are critical because the Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important routes for submarine communications infrastructure, carrying internet and data traffic between the Gulf states and the wider world. Damage to these cables could disrupt internet connectivity, financial transactions, communications and other digital services across the region. Earlier this month, Iranian official Mohsen Rezaei also warned that Tehran could target undersea internet cables, data centers and AI facilities linked to the US if another war broke out.
