Absolutely loved chasing this fungus around the Americas for my PhD. Parasite to some, delicacy to others. Collected from teosinte in Mexico, that was cool, but maize domestication wiped out the pre-domestication fungal population history. royalsocietypublishing.org/d…

Congrats HY, Nieng and others on your very nice paper. And thank you for alluding to our @jlipidres paper showing the connections between NPC1 and COVID-19 jlr.org/content/early/2020/0…
Latest work in collaboration with Nieng is now online. Have been working on this pathway for 20+ years. Elegant mechanism for LDL-cholesterol to enter the cytoplasm. NPC1 is also essential for Ebola virus to enter the cell. Covid-19 might also hijack NPC1, which is to be examined

Yes so much to learn from rare diseases particularly the lysosomal storage diseases. eg very good insight from Niemann-Pick type C disease. Image here from our preprint osf.io/92f3s

My kid had a #StrangerThings lockdown birthday. Happy birthday to all the kids around the world who had birthdays in #COVID19 isolation.

First of many zoom lab meetings. We missed a few people due to their jobs being essential. Not sure what chatting was going on during the meeting (zoom in to the orange).

Replying to @eperlste
Great point Ethan. This commonality likely means a lot for mechanism. We just published a preprint that expands on this---too much to learn from rare diseases like NPC disease. osf.io/92f3s/

When you have time to cook a present from a student that finished her MSc thesis in my lab in 2017. Her thesis results were published @jbiolchem & downloaded 3200 times. That’s about the number of tasty bites of this leg of lamb. Thank you Natalie. jbc.org/content/292/11/4395.…
