"Torah-study every day is crucial to life itself. This applies not only to the soul of the one studying but also to the souls of his family. For then (through Torah-study), the atmosphere of the home becomes an atmosphere of Torah and piety."

Something else very interesting;
There is a custom to say through much of the high holiday period Chapter 27 in Psalms.
Sapir Cohen, who was a hostage, decided to say it for the first time in 2023, hoping it would bring blessings of healing.
She learned it by heart, but after a while began to wonder: why am I saying this? It's not about healing, it's about war.
In the psalm?
The word chamas.
"Do not deliver me to the desires of my adversaries, for false witnesses and speakers of evil (chamas) have risen against me.
The day the custom is to finish saying the Psalm?
Hoshana Raba, the eve of October 7th.
🙏What was the prayer that kept Sapir Cohen strong during 55 days of H*mas?
The summer of 2023, Sapir Cohen was worried about her health. Told by doctors that her worrying was worse for her health, she began to look for something to help her feel at ease.
She saw on Instagram that reciting the words of Psalm 27, from the 1st of Elul until Hoshanah Raba, the last day of Sukkot, would bring healing.
Not one who normally prayed, the psalm became her daily prayer. On the last day of Sukkot, October 6th, she finished.
We had the merit to meet Sapir and her boyfriend Sasha's mother, Yelena, during our trip to Israel. She shared her story with us.
Sasha remains in H*mas captivity.
The custom to say Psalm 27 begins now. May its power help bring freedom for the hostages, among them Alexander Ben Leah, Sasha Troufanov, and bless each and every one of us with a sweet new year.

We're sharing Sapir's story here now with footage courtesy of @livinglchaim, filmed during her recent visit to the United States.

Every potential idea we express has an effect either in physical form or on a spiritual plane that can be perceived only with higher and more refined senses.
A resident of Mezibuz had a quarrel with another. Once, while in the Baal Shem Tov's shul, he shouted that he would tear the other fellow to pieces like a fish.
The Baal Shem Tov told his pupils to hold one another's hand, and to stand near him with their eyes closed. Then he placed his holy hands on the shoulders of the two disciples next to him. Suddenly the disciples began shouting in great terror: They had seen that fellow actually dismembering his disputant.
This incident shows clearly that every potential has an effect - either in physical form or on a spiritual plane that can be perceived only with higher and more refined senses.

🕯️ Finding Purpose in Gaza’s Tunnels
On October 7, Sapir Cohen hid under a bed as missiles fell and Hamas terrorists stormed her kibbutz.
Certain she was about to die, she thought about her life and the things she had—or hadn’t—done with it.
She prayed for one last chance to do something meaningful.
Then she was taken hostage.
For 55 days, in H*mas captivity, Sapir made a choice: to find purpose even in the darkest place imaginable. She met other hostages who were terrified and broken, and decided that she could be there for them.
“I felt that I’m in a place that I can be the most meaningful person in the world. I just need to choose that.”
Last year, Sapir and her husband, Sasha Troufanov, shared their story with the Tech Tribe community.
This is a small part of that extraordinary conversation.
