We have seen the OHCHR’s remarks about today’s events in New Delhi. India is the world’s largest democracy, where the right to peaceful assembly is guaranteed by our Constitution and safeguarded by robust institutions, an independent judiciary and a free media. As in every democracy, Indian citizens exercise this right subject to reasonable restrictions in the interest of public order. The authorities, for their part, act in accordance with the law, and our courts remain available to all for redressal of any grievances. The OHCHR’s concerns are therefore misplaced and constitute an unwarranted interference in the internal affairs of India. In this context, OHCHR would also do well to devote comparable attention to large-scale protests elsewhere, consistent with its mandate of impartiality and non-selectivity. @MEAIndia @IndianDiplomacy @PMOIndia @DrSJaishankar @abagchimea

Brave Iranian woman stands up to pro-IRGC thugs in Toronto who then berate her for showing her belly. Of course @TorontoPolice remove the Iranian woman defending her freedoms than those harassing the freedoms enjoyed.

Rabies is a disease of inequality. 95% of deaths occur in areas where access to vaccines and health care is often limited. Ending human deaths from rabies requires a comprehensive One Health approach - including mass dog vaccination, timely access to PEP, community awareness and more - so no one is left behind. who.int/news-room/fact-sheet… #EndRabies #WorldRabiesDay

Despite decades of progress, #malaria is making a dangerous comeback. In 2023 alone, Africa recorded 246 million cases and nearly 600,000 deaths, accounting for 95% of global malaria mortality. In their latest opinion piece on @bmj_latest, @AfricaCDC's @Dr_JeanKaseya & @NebiyuDere36011 note that this crisis is avoidable with the right investment, collaboration, and leadership➡️ow.ly/klrZ50WWIRX. #EndMalaria

Why not look for ways to peace rather than ways to prolong the conflict? Europe is shielding itself behind Ukraine, giving it means to continue fighting. If Russia is paying a price so is Ukraine and Europe. It is not an ideological battle anymore but a battle for power. Europe ready to spend 5% of GDP on defence. A rearmed Europe and Russia rearmed is not a recipe for peace. Talk of European values in the context of the Ukraine conflict is mask. If the Islamist Al Jolani of Syria is openly embraced how is it consistent with European values.? @TheresaAFallon
'In some ways, the U.S. vacillation has a bigger impact than the lack of the weapons themselves ... Without a clear picture of the assistance it’s getting from what has been its single most important backer, Ukraine can’t design its war plans or effectively respond to attacks. That’s a perilous situation to be in at a time when Russia is dramatically scaling up the quantity of missiles and drones it’s launching Ukraine’s way. Unable to rely on Washington, Ukraine is looking to ramp up joint weapons production with European Union countries and to expand its own national production." theatlantic.com/national-sec…
