Kurds have long been victims of having other identities imposed on them. We know better than most what it means to be told who we are and how we should identify ourselves. So we simply cannot turn around and do the same to the Yezidi community by forcing a Kurdish identity on them.
Yezidis have every right to define their own identity, whether they consider themselves Kurdish, Yezidi, or both. That's entirely their choice, and it should be respected. The more Kurds try to impose a Kurdish identity on Yezidis, the more they risk pushing them away. It's a basic lesson from our own history: forcing an identity on people doesn't make them embrace it. More often, it produces resentment, alienation, and resistance. Kurds have experienced exactly this for at least the past century, so it's astonishing that some still fail to recognise the irony.
And let's not forget that we're talking about a community that has recently survived a genocide, mass displacement, and unimaginable suffering. The last thing Yezidis need is another struggle over who gets to define their identity. They deserve dignity, respect, and the freedom to speak for themselves. If we genuinely want to strengthen the bonds between Kurds and Yezidis, those bonds must be built on mutual respect, not pressure or coercion. After all, the right to self-identification cannot be something we demand for ourselves while denying it to others.

Keyboard warriors claim that the Peshmerga could return if YBS were to request it yet these brainless keyboard warriors fail to ask why the KRG never implemented Article 140.
Their concern is not Kurdistan; if it were, 140 article would be their priority.
Journalist: Why not ally with the Peshmerga?
Yazidi YBŞ commander: Be realistic. The #Peshmerga withdrew in 2014 and 2017. They’re not here to ally with. If they return or form a government, we can talk. We are our community’s military force, and it expects us to act. #Şingal
The question is very simple: had Article 140 been implemented, would Sinjar have been under Iraqi sovereignty or under the sovereignty of the KRG? Instead of answering this question, however, you resort to demagoguery.
You’re assuming that I am against the Iraqification of Sinjar. I’m not. I’m fully in support of it. And I simply don’t care if some Yezidis identify as Kurds or not. I want less headache for KRG, and that’s my only priority. The current situation supplements it.
The integration of the YBS into the Iraqi forces, on the other hand, is only about the ongoing reorganization of the PKK that’s coordinated with Turkey. YBS was a dissident armed group in Mount Sinjar, had no presence in Sinjar itself so the implementation of Article 140 had nothing to do with them or their decisions. I know PKK wants to create the illusion that it was in control of Sinjar, but that’s not correct. Sinjar has been controlled by Iranian-backed militias, not by any Kurdish group, since 2017.

Had the 140 articles been implemented, the YBS would have been integrated into the KRG not into the Iraqi army.
Yet, a herd of ignorant fools too stupid to even realize this are attacking the YBS and the EZÎDÎ.

Is the failure to implement Article 140, and the fact that the Yazidis are seeking to resolve their issues in Baghdad, a mistake on their part, or on the part of the KRG?
Resorting to cheap populism instead of addressing the realities doesn't suit you.
KRG/KDP timely withdrew from Sinjar, a lost cause that Erbil lacked the resources to fight for in spite of Iranian, Iraqi, PKK and even long-distance Armenian interference. Murad Ismail’s Baathi/Islah-inspired absurd Iraqism and rising popularity underscore the accuracy of Erbil’s decision. KRG should focus on the Yezidis within the region and leave the Sinjar crisis for Iraqis and Murad to settle.
The "new" Syria @USAMBTurkiye —is witnessing a scene where a group of Turkish-backed barbarians are looting and burning vehicles belonging to Kurds, while the so-called Syrian Army, instead of protecting the victims, chooses to shield the vandals.

Yazidis are not KURDS , KURDS were Yazidi. Let's leave them whatever they want define themselves.. Thousands of our problems have been solved; it’s as if this is the only one left.
A remarkable and heated exchange on Nuce TV, a pro-PKK Kurdish channel, between Riham Hassan, a representative of the pro-PKK Yazidi women’s movement in Sinjar, and Remezan Kerim, a Kurdish nationalist from Erbil.
Hassan insists that Yazidis are a distinct ethnic group, separate from Kurds. Kerim rejects this, repeatedly calls her Kurdish and accuses her of national treason.
Most notably, Kerim invokes the epic of Dewresh Evdi, a legendary Yazidi warrior who, in one documented version of the oral tradition, declares:
"I am neither Kiki nor Milan. I have been Yazidi for seventy generations."
Kerim then renders the line as: "I am Yazidi and I am Kurd."
Academic research firmly establishes Dewresh's Yazidi identity but does not record Kerim's formulation as a direct quotation from Evdi.
However, the epic survives in many oral variations, some of which explicitly place Yazidis within a broader Kurdish identity. A 2022 academic study comparing six versions found that those preserved by Yazidi communities often emphasise both a distinct religious identity and a shared Kurdish identity, while versions among Muslim Kurdish communities focus more on tribal relationships.
The epic is therefore more complicated than either side suggests. Dewresh's Yazidi identity is well established, and his association with Kurdishness also has a basis in the wider tradition.
The exchange is particularly revealing because Hassan herself belongs to the PKK-aligned network and embraces the ideology of jailed PKK founder Abdullah Ocalan, while asserting a distinct Yazidi ethnic identity.
This may reflect a strand of Ocalan's thought that emphasises plural identities and the right of communities to define themselves, leaving room for Yazidis to identify as a distinct people rather than necessarily as Kurds. Kerim represents the more conventional Kurdish nationalist position, which regards Yazidis as an integral part of the Kurdish nation regardless of how individuals identify.
The confrontation exposes a basic difference in how the two approach identity: Hassan insists on the right to define her own, while Kerim insists on defining it for her. Even a shared epic becomes a vehicle for competing claims.

To date,PJAK has left almost no attack unanswered.Being a significant actor requires a presence on the ground,as well as discipline and seriousness. Empty social media narratives, hollow slogans, and cheap populism do not make you an actor but social media phenomen. So Bijî #PJAK
Iran: PJAK armed wing: "On October 20, the enemy once again shelled areas on the outskirts of Degaga village, in the Kosalan district, with heavy artillery. The attack was launched from a base located on the outskirts of Degaga village, which had also been used to launch previous attacks on the area. Our forces responded appropriately to these attacks in accordance with the principle of self-defense. Our forces suffered no casualties in the attacks."
