One year ago today, many of my followers helped send me to NYC to speak at the United Nations about surrogacy and its harms to women and children, on behalf of @NotAllGays.
That 16 hours in New York will stick with my forever, and I cannot express my gratitude enough to all those who made it happen, to @UNSRVAW and the Italian government for hosting, and all the work Ewa does to coordinate and organise.

📢PUBLISHED: OUR SUBMISSION TO THE NEW ZEALAND PARLIAMENT
Our submission on the Legislation (Definitions of Woman and Man) Amendment Bill has now been published by the Social Services and Community Committee of the New Zealand Parliament.
Invited by some of our supporters in New Zealand, we contributed an international LGB perspective to the debate. While we are an Irish organisation, the relationship between sex and sexual orientation affects lesbians, gay men and bisexual people across the world.
Drawing on legal developments from New Zealand, the UK, the US and Australia, we argued that legal clarity and statutory coherence are essential for effective sexual orientation protections.
At the heart of our submission was a simple proposition: "The protection of sexual orientation depends upon the law being capable of identifying what constitutes same-sex attraction."
With more than 40,000 submissions and over 1,500 requests to make oral submissions received by the Committee, this is one of the largest public consultations currently before the New Zealand Parliament. The Committee is due to report back by 20th November 2026.
We are grateful for the opportunity to ensure that an international LGB perspective forms part of the official parliamentary record.

Though we struggle to offer sympathy to Lena Dunham, as Breda O'Brien does, we appreciate this unequivocal reminder that wealthy women are not the ones who are paid to hand over their babies.
"Ireland’s hubris in thinking it could regulate surrogacy outside its borders, where it has zero influence or control, is astonishing. And while it is easy to empathise with Dunham, the unpalatable reality remains that rich women do not act as surrogates for poor women."
Our sympathies will always be with the women who are exploited.
