When seconds matter, perspective is everything. 🚓 Aerial support helps us understand what is happening in real time. It helps guide officers, coordinate response, and find people quickly. Using cameras with Infrared (IR) Thermal Imaging, we can spot things that are hard to see from the ground. Making things safer for both officers and the public. These tools help us make better decisions, reduce risks and respond faster. It’s just one of the many ways we are working to keep our community safe. Last night, our officers and Mounted Unit were out at the Canadian Tire Centre fan zone ahead of the @SensNews_NHL playoff game—connecting with fans, enjoying the atmosphere, and helping keep things safe for everyone taking in the excitement. As we head into Game 4 this weekend, we’re reminding everyone to stay safe, look out for one another, and plan for a safe ride home. Whether you’re watching at home, at a watch party, or heading to the game, let’s keep things positive and respectful. We may be down, but hold your horses… there’s still plenty of hockey left, and it’s not over yet! Go Sens Go!

🚨 Next Generation 9-1-1 is coming to Ottawa 🚨 We’re upgrading our emergency communications system to a modern, digital network designed for today’s technology. What does that mean for you? ➡️ Nothing changes when you dial 9-1-1 ➡️ Your call will still be answered and handled the same way What does change is what our communicators receive: ➡️ More precise caller location ➡️ More detailed information ➡️ Stronger cybersecurity and backup systems Last year alone, Ottawa’s Communications Centre answered over 350,000 emergency calls — nearly 1,000 every day. This upgrade helps ensure every call is supported by the best technology available. Wherever you are in Ottawa, when you need help, we’re ready to answer. ottawa.ca/en/city-hall/city-… Communication matters. An Ottawa Police officer noticed an elderly woman who appeared lost. It was getting dark, and the temperature was dropping. The officer realized she didn’t speak English, and enabled language interpretation technology on his body-worn camera. Officers can connect with people in over 50 languages at the press of a button. Understanding each other clearly helped the woman explain what she needed. The officer was able to clearly explain how he could help her. Language should never be a barrier to getting help. Interpretation technology helps us better serve Ottawa’s diverse community. Tools like this help ensure everyone in our community can be heard. Learn more about how we’re using technology to serve Ottawa at ottawapolice.ca/video.

The Ottawa Police Service is mourning the death of one of our members who passed away on Friday. The death is not believed to be suspicious and is being investigated by the Ontario Provincial Police, as is standard practice. Our hearts are with his family, friends, and colleagues, and supports are being put in place for them and all members affected by this loss. This is difficult news for our Service. Policing exposes members to loss, trauma and deeply challenging situations, and events like this can affect people in different ways. Anyone who may be struggling is encouraged to reach out—help is available.

500+ registrations. One iconic venue. Civilian, sworn and executive members. Friday night at the Fairmont Château Laurier, the Outreach and Recruiting Team hosted a service-wide recruiting event: What’s Possible at Ottawa Police. 🚓 From inspiring speeches to powerful one-on-one conversations, we showcased Ottawa Police as an employer of choice and highlighted the full range of sworn and civilian career pathways across our Service. But this was more than a recruiting event. It was momentum. United by the 30 Forward pledge, we are committed to increasing the representation of women within the Ottawa Police Service and building a future that reflects the community we serve. 👮‍♀️ Congratulations to the Outreach and Recruiting Team for an exceptional and impactful evening. The future is calling. We’re answering. ✨ ~ 500+ inscriptions. ✨
