This @NewYorker story is so good, and so important for everyone to understand. Through the lens of semiconductor manufacturing, it highlights the interconnectedness of today’s world and puts to shame anyone who thinks that we can go back to a world shaped only by national rivalries rather than international cooperation and trade. “The semiconductor supply chain is a planetary superorganism with its own ecology…. Globalization has become tainted in our eyes, as if it necessarily constitutes a zero-sum enterprise. And its mercenary form—which is also its most common form—has indeed inflicted harm. But the global semiconductor supply chain reflects an alternative pathway. It has united its participants in the pursuit of something profoundly difficult that could not have been achieved in the absence of intercontinental solidarity.” newyorker.com/magazine/2026/…

I'm 40 years old, and graduated from university in the summer of 2008. Throughout my entire adult life the prevailing narrative has been about cuts, "painful" years, and ever-increasing inequality.
And mainstream politicians wonder why people are so angry.

For the 175th anniversary of the @nytimes, I recall covering the Tiananmen massacre and share a secret of the time. A young Chinese who had helped us cover the protests escaped from prison and asked me for help fleeing China. So what to do? Gift link: nytimes.com/2026/10/30/world…

Don't be a dick, @DavidNdii. We are taxed, to the bone, but everyday kenya loses nearly 100 babies to very preventable causes and that's just healthcare.

It is pointless to fight or agrue with ndio, sorry Ndii because this is a fight with his conscience. A way to justify the evil he is part of because he cannot claim absolution by virtue of his knowledge. He is a cursed man, eaten alive by his own greed.
