Today, my NYSC journey comes to an end. 🎓🇳🇬
One year of leaving my comfort zone, facing challenges, learning lessons, making sacrifices, and creating memories I will never forget.
Today, I will remove the uniform, but the memories will remain.

my neighbour had a child that she abandon when he was a baby.
years later when he was older, he tracked her to Lagos, his mum was a "mummy" ( a pimp)
the first day he saw her, he was overjoyed. successful mum or so he thought.
that night he slept alone because his mum can't skip one night to stay with her beloved child that she haven't seen since he was a child.
when she got back the next morning, he was enraged.
he slapped, people heard from the next flat, he was already packing his bags.
they begged him but he didn't show any remorse nor did he apologize, after that day, nobody saw him again.
I always wonder if he was within his right to have slapped his mum.

So this morning around 5:30 AM, I was already on my way out when a jeep passed me, stopped ahead, and offered me a lift.
I told him I was just heading to the junction down the road to catch my usual public bus. He said I should jump in.
Before getting in, I asked him: "Can I see your face? I’ve not seen you before."
Tell me why this man got offended and asked if I didn't know him! I said no.
Then he goes: "So you think I’m a kidnapper?" 💀
In my mind, I’m thinking... do kidnappers write "KIDNAPPER" on their foreheads?!
I just told him I like to know whose car I’m stepping into. He then told me if I don't know him, I shouldn't bother getting in, and I said "Thank you" and walked away.
Now I’m asking you guys:
Did I do anything wrong by asking to see his face before entering a stranger's car at 5:30 AM?

These cars with auto brake systems will finish us in this Lagos ooo. The way Lagosians just cross the road like they are immune to accidents is just something else.
These cars react to human and object presence, and to avoid hitting anyone, the emergency brake aggressively applies itself. Making the unsuspecting driver behind ram into the car in front (especially if their car is not equipped with such a system too)
