As an Air Qual Champ, I’d thought Clair would be campaigning for safer cycling & fewer cars, not saying kids shouldn’t cycle b’cause of fumes. 🤯 It’s like saying kids shouldn’t go indoors due to 2nd-hand smoke. The answer wasn’t to keep kids out, it was to ban smoking inside.

Imagine exposing your child to that level of exhaust fumes for a photo op! Children (even more than adults) should not be taking part in strenuous physical activity next that level of traffic. I’m an Air Quality Champion and that was covered in our DEFRA-funded training.

FIGHTING FOR THEIR LIVES 👺They are suffering suffocating and dying 😢Fishing is the most awful animal abuse on the planet. The numbers are staggering..2-3 trillion estimated per year. That is more than the human population wiped out every single day. #StopYourKillings #LiveVegan 🙏

The heatwave gripping western Europe is the most severe and widespread on record. Scientists are clear that it was only made possible by the climate crisis, driven by fossil fuel burning. And yet there are senior voices within our party - and trade union leaders - advocating for new licences for North Sea oil and gas extraction. It is utterly surreal, short-sighted, and irresponsible in the extreme. A just, worker-led green transition is non-negotiable, but the idea that net-zero is anti-worker is a false dichotomy - one we cannot afford to get trapped in. Every second spent debating whether to drill in the North Sea is a precious second we are not spending on advocating for the mitigation and adaptation measures we so desperately need.

“Ask most people what's driving our brutal, record-smashing heat and they'll point at cars and power plants. But a peer-reviewed analysis pins more than half of the warming since the 1700s on something else entirely: raising animals for food.

That’s not true, Manuel. It’s 2.5%. Making things up isn’t helpful. Please stop spreading disinformation. The numbers cycling is a primary factor in reducing road harm. The more people cycle, combined with improved roads and road law enforcement, the lower the KSI stats.

In six days i've produced 176 kWh of electricty from my roof in Wales. The average home in the UK uses between 50 and 70 kWh a week. It's March. We have war. Strikes on world power supplies and fear. Energy security for your home is fantastic! We need more rooftop solar and battery storage. I can use this electricty to, cook, clean clothes, heat hot water and even add some charge to my car all without any interfence from the world. I can even help my adding energy to the grid. octopusreferral.link/solar-p…

Austria has integrated solar panels with farming, called Agri-PV. It enables a microclimate that is more optimal for growth of plants, protecting the fruit from hail, heavy rain, and excessive heat. While also generating electricity. They want to scale it across Europe!

That people think nothing of prioritising public space for empty and unused cars, which are parked 96% of the time (on average), over alternative uses, such as protected cycle tracks for all to use, is the biggest swindle ever carried out by the motor lobby.

“Helsinki hasn’t registered a single traffic-related fatality in the past year…Citing data that shows the risk of pedestrian fatality is cut in half by reducing a car’s speed from 40 to 30km/hr, city officials imposed the lower limit in most of Helsinki’s residential areas and city center in 2021.” politico.eu/article/helsinki…

Swifts are disappearing but Scotland has just passed a simple law to revive them. They will install swift bricks on all new buildings. Tiny cost. Huge ecological impact. Imagine if every country legislated for life like this.

People who walk, bike and take transit *also* pay property tax yet we are not allowed to use the public street to store a hobby greenhouse, personal patio, or tent with the entire contents of our living room. All of these things are smaller, lighter and cheaper than a modern car.

Animals are not magical reservoirs of calcium, protein and iron. They get everything they needs from plants. When you go vegan you cut out the middle man, which is a tortured animal. Just go vegan

Seven years in Delft, countless trips across the globe, and nothing compares to the feeling of coming home to a city where cars are guests, not the guests of honour.

A reminder for neoliberals that you can’t buy an ancient woodland. There’s no store where you can purchase 500 year old trees. No amount of money can replace an irreplaceable habitat. That’s why these protections exist.

£100m would have bought a lot of habit to boost the bat numbers and their food supply to more than offset the number killed by trains.
