🎉 A major step toward cow-free cheese in the U.S.! 🇺🇸🧀
Those Vegan Cowboys’ precision-fermented casein, Margaret’s Finest, has received an FDA “no questions” letter — the first for precision fermentation-derived casein, according to the company!
With partners like Hochland already working on burger cheese applications, TVC is moving closer to bringing cow-free dairy to the U.S. market. 🐄✨

What everyday choice could cut over 5 times more greenhouse gas emissions than using a reusable shopping bag every day? 🌍
The answer? Going meat-free just one day a week! 🥗
🌱 Estimated annual emissions savings:
🛍️ Reusable bag: ~20 kg CO₂e
🥗 One meat-free day a week: ~110 kg CO₂e
Small changes to what’s on our plates can make a big difference.
Estimates based on avoiding one plastic bag per day (~50 g CO₂ per bag) and replacing meat-based meals with lower-emission plant-based alternatives one day per week (~2.1 kg CO₂e saved weekly). Actual savings vary.

🤠 Casein made by Those Vegan Cowboys through precision fermentation is heading into sports nutrition.
A joint project by TVC, Interfood, HAS green academy and XXL Nutrition has received over €1.29 million in funding.
The goal: high-protein sports nutrition made with animal-free casein — with a focus on taste, nutrition, affordability and consumer acceptance, paving the way for future market launch.
🐄🥛 Another step toward dairy that doesn’t depend on cows.

In dairy production, separating calves from their mothers is still widely practiced.

No okara wasted. No fish killed. Umami made through fermentation.
Nanyang Technological University and Ichimasa Kamaboko have demonstrated a process that ferments okara with oyster mushroom mycelium, increasing its protein and umami compounds.
Still at the research stage, it could one day offer an alternative to bonito flakes and fish extracts in Japanese dashi. 🍄🌱

Milk doesn’t begin in a carton.
It begins with a mother and her baby.
Calves are often separated from their mothers within the first 12–24 hours after birth.

At a county fair in Virginia, young children chase terrified piglets, grab them by the legs, and drag them into a pen in a “Pig Scramble.”
Causing fear and distress is neither education nor a tradition worth preserving. Please sign the petition to end this event.

Clarify Dairy
It may seem obvious, but a cow produces milk because she has given birth to a calf. 🐄
In conventional dairy farming in Japan, calves are generally separated from their mothers soon after birth.
Milk that would otherwise be consumed by the calf is also collected and sold for human consumption.
