PUTIN AND XI: THE DICTATORS' ALLIANCE IS CRACKING
A serious conflict is reportedly brewing between Moscow and Beijing. According to Chechenews, citing unnamed insiders, Xi Jinping has demanded almost unlimited access for Chinese companies to the natural resources of Siberia and Russia's Far East. The price? China's assistance in securing a deal with Trump over Ukraine.
The latest private conversation between the two dictators reportedly turned extremely hostile. Xi demanded written guarantees granting China preferential access to Russian resources for decades. Putin refused. The Kremlin apparently still hopes to bring Western companies back after the war, regain access to technology, and resume selling off Russia's natural wealth to American and European investors.
Meanwhile, Beijing reportedly suspects Moscow of playing a double game. Russian intermediaries may already be offering Trump's circle projects previously promised to Chinese investors. According to the report, Putin's inner circle is divided. One faction fears losing China, Russia's largest buyer of natural resources. The other believes Xi is exploiting Moscow's growing dependence.
If these reports prove accurate, the humiliation for the Kremlin would be extraordinary. Putin dreamed of destroying Ukraine's independence and rebuilding the Russian Empire. Now he may find himself bargaining for the right to control his own country's territory and resources.
China has no intention of rescuing Putin's regime for free. Beijing wants its price: natural resources, mineral deposits, and economic influence lasting decades.
The irony is monstrous. A dictator who sent hundreds of thousands of Russians to their deaths in pursuit of someone else's land now risks turning his own country into China's raw-material colony.
The reported details of these private negotiations have not been independently confirmed. But Russia's dependence on the Chinese market makes such a clash of interests entirely plausible.
Putin wanted an empire. He may end up handing Xi the keys to Siberia.

Suomella on lähes 900 000 reserviläistä. Siitä porukasta pitäisi kouluttaa tuhansia droonisodankäynnin osaajia.
Ukrainan droonijoukkojen komentaja Robert Brovdi antaa Ilta-Sanomien haastattelussa Suomelle erittäin kiinnostavia neuvoja. Hänen mukaansa Suomen reservi on yksi Naton suurimmista vahvuuksista ja sitä pitäisi oppia hyödyntämään aivan uudella tavalla.
Brovdi kertoo, että hänen johtamansa droonijoukot muodostavat vain 2,5 prosenttia Ukrainan asevoimista, mutta aiheuttavat yli kolmanneksen Venäjän henkilöstötappioista. Suhteellisen pieni määrä oikeanlaista osaamista ja teknologiaa voi saada aikaan valtavia vaikutuksia.
Suomen kannalta tässä on mielestäni ainakin kolme tärkeää opetusta.
Ensinnäkin meidän pitäisi rakentaa huomattavasti nykyistä laajempi drooniosaajien reservi.
Suomessa on valtava määrä ohjelmoijia, insinöörejä, sähköasentajia, data-analyytikkoja ja muita teknologiaosaajia, joiden taidoille olisi sodan aikana välitöntä käyttöä. Voisimmeko kouluttaa tuhansia reserviläisiä droonien käyttöön, torjuntaan ja tiedusteluun myös heidän siviilityönsä ohessa?
Toiseksi tarvitsemme drooneja vastaan kerroksittaisen puolustuksen.
Halpoja lennokkeja ei ole järkevää torjua jatkuvasti kalliilla ohjuksilla tai hävittäjillä. Suomen pitäisi kyetä havaitsemaan ja torjumaan suuria droonimääriä kustannustehokkaasti niin rajalla kuin satamien, voimalaitosten ja muun kriittisen infrastruktuurin ympärillä. Tähän tarvitaan sensoreita, elektronista sodankäyntiä, edullisia torjuntajärjestelmiä ja niiden yhteistoimintaa.
Kolmanneksi droonisodankäyntiä ei voi kehittää perinteisellä, vuosia kestävällä hankintamallilla.
Ukrainassa teknologia ja vastatoimet muuttuvat jatkuvasti. Suomen pitäisi rakentaa kotimaisen puolustusteollisuuden kanssa järjestelmä, jossa drooneja, ohjelmistoja ja torjuntamenetelmiä voidaan kehittää, testata ja valmistaa nopeasti. Kriisitilanteessa tuotantoa pitää kyetä myös moninkertaistamaan.
Suomen ei pidä valmistautua vain siihen sotaan, jota Venäjä kävi vuonna 2022. Meidän pitää valmistautua myös siihen sotaan, jota se kykenee käymään vuonna 2030.

How sweet.
One tiny detail: Lantratova is under US sanctions, and Ukrainian authorities have accused her of involvement in the abduction and forced transfer of children from occupied Kherson.
But wait. That's just the appetizer.
Lantratova also happens to be co-chair of the International Club of National Unity, a Russian organization established in 2025 to promote Moscow's interests abroad under the charming banner of “traditional spiritual and moral values.”
And what a delightful little club it is!
Her fellow co-chair is Mykola Azarov, Ukraine's former prime minister, who fled to Russia after Euromaidan.
Its leadership includes Aleksandr Dugin, the ideologue of Russian imperialism; Apti Alaudinov, commander of the Akhmat forces; senior Kremlin officials, propagandists, and assorted professional Putin enthusiasts.
Now comes the really juicy part.
The club's published membership list includes Sergey Panteleyev, identified by the European Union as an officer of GRU Unit 54777, the Russian military intelligence outfit described by The Washington Post as a nerve center of Moscow's psychological warfare operations.
And sitting on the club's presidium? Aleksandr Ionov, a man the US Justice Department charged with orchestrating an FSB-directed influence operation involving American political organizations, Russian propaganda, and interference in US elections.
Yes. That American Justice Department.
The international cast is equally entertaining.
The club has published the names of Tucker Carlson, Jeffrey Sachs, Scott Ritter, and former CIA analyst Larry Johnson in various roles or membership lists. Carlson's name later disappeared; Ritter has participated in club events, while Johnson remains listed on its presidium. A name appearing on a Russian organization's website does not, by itself, establish someone's consent to membership.
And for a little extra flavor, there's Viktor Bout, the notorious Russian arms dealer once imprisoned in the United States.
This isn't some secret dossier leaked by an intelligence agency.

The club produces propaganda programming, organizes international events, and promotes Russian political narratives abroad. Researchers were examining its intelligence connections well before yesterday's White House circus.
So let's appreciate the full absurdity.
At an event supposedly devoted to helping Ukrainian civilians suffering under Russian occupation, the First Lady of the United States publicly honored a Russian official accused of involvement in the forced transfer of Ukrainian children.
An official who also co-chairs a Kremlin-aligned influence network whose published roster includes a GRU officer and a man charged by the US government with working for the FSB.
And Melania thanked her for bringing hope and dignity to victims of the war.
You couldn't write this shit as satire. The writers would reject it for being too fucking ridiculous.
Apparently, the new White House humanitarian protocol is simple:

Russia does not need another security agreement. It has the world’s largest nuclear arsenal, and absolutely nobody in Europe has the slightest desire to invade or occupy that miserable country.
What Kushner is describing as some magnificent new European security architecture is, essentially, the security system Europe already had before Russia decided international law was optional and its neighbours’ territory was available for collection.
We had treaties. We had security guarantees. We had diplomatic consultations. We had internationally recognised borders.
Russia violated them, invaded Ukraine, annexed its territory and turned European security into a catastrophe.
The problem was never a shortage of agreements. The problem was Russia’s refusal to honour them.
And now Washington apparently believes the solution is to sit down with Moscow and invent another agreement.
Brilliant. Perhaps this time Putin could promise to behave himself in writing.
