If anyone wants to learn how you can phone bank for the Democratic Party of OR, LMK. It’s super easy, and frankly I’m having fun! I know some Democrats are crappy too but we have to stop this madness and then elect who we want #VoteLikeTheCountryDependsOnIt #VoteBlueNoMatterWho

I’ll just leave this here because it needs no commentary by me. I’ll hand it over to @thematthewcooke and he’ll take it from here. 🎥 TikTok - vm.tiktok.com/ZGdCGkfrR/

This is what billionaire ownership of the media means: Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta shut down the No Kings account for hours during the height of their protests. Meta suppressed accounts supporting Brazil President Lula da Silva in the recent election. Larry Ellison’s TikTok blocked advertising for a documentary criticizing Elon Musk. Fight back. Defeat oligarchy. Preserve democracy.

Ben Affleck says AI is simply matrix multiplication, linear algebra and floating point calculations, and however convincingly it sounds like a person, it has nothing to do with thought, humanity or feeling “Nor do I believe, and I think it’s important to draw the distinction between what AI does, which is simply predict the next token or the next word in a sentence, then add that word on, run it back to the machine, do a lot of computation and pick the next word." "That is a very different thing than sentience or thought. And I think we need to be really clear about that because it can be convincingly, in an illusory way, sound like thought or like a person." "But let’s be real clear. This is matrix multiplication. This is linear algebra. These are floating point calculations. It has nothing to do with thought, humanity, or feeling.”
Ben Affleck reveals he writes Python, understands convolutional neural networks, worked extensively with GPUs, and used his celebrity status to get private looks at Google and OpenAI’s video models “I’ve always been kind of into computers since I was young. Then, when film started to move from analog film to digital, I became more interested in that aspect of it. The visual-effects workflow for many years has included machine learning, so I can write pretty shitty Python scripts and stuff like that. “With convolutional neural networks, which were the precursors to what the transformer can do, which is much more computation simultaneously, you would do things like look at what’s called a tensor. That’s the numerical translation of a visual image in numbers, like the batch number, the frame number and the red, green and blue values of each pixel in each frame. It’s just that simple. That numeric is called a tensor. “You’d use a convolutional neural network to identify patterns that reveal what’s called edge detection or feature extraction, which is identifying patterns well enough to know, this is where the window ledge is, so we can more easily take the green-screen image out and replace it with something. “That was familiar to me early on because, prior to Artists Equity, I had a small visual-effects company. I’ve worked with GPUs a lot too. The visual-effects guys said, ‘Hey, you should see. There are a couple: Google and this other company, OpenAI, are doing really interesting stuff with transformers in video.’ “I’ve learned that I can actually just call up and go, ‘Hey, it’s Ben Affleck. Can I come see what you’re doing?’ Sometimes people say yes, to my astonishment.”

Sen. Angus King says he sat down and made a list of everything Putin could possibly want from an American president. His conclusion about Trump? “This guy, this president, is doing almost all of them.” King then goes through the list. WATCH.

Economist @MazzucatoM: "If bankers, estate agents and bookmakers claim to create value rather than extract it, mainstream economics offers no basis on which to challenge them, even though the public might view their claims with scepticism. Who can deny Lloyd Blankfein when he declares that Goldman Sachs employees are among the most productive in the world? Or when pharmaceutical companies argue that the exorbitantly high price of one of their drugs is due to the value it produces? Government officials can become convinced (or ‘captured’) by stories about wealth creation, as was recently evidenced by the US government’s approval of a leukemia drug treatment at half a million dollars, precisely using the ‘ value- based pricing’ model pitched by the industry – even when the taxpayer contributed $200 million dollars towards its discovery." It's all been bullshit. All of it. Diesel, energy deals, peace negotiations, everything between Trump Co. and Putin's mafia is a charade. All they're doing is laundering money and trying to lift sanctions. It's all they care about and all they know how to do.
The Trump/Putin deal gets worse. According to reports, the US was also offering $100 billion of frozen assets (that are in the custody of the EU) in exchange for a limited ceasefire. kyivpost.com/post/86720

The Trump administration has some serious explaining to do, because there’s a ton of money missing and zero explanation for where it went. The US has collected an estimated $13 billion in Venezuelan oil revenue, and at least $10 billion of it is unaccounted for. And the independent audits that it promised Congress? Congress still doesn’t have them. Whatever you think American foreign policy towards Venezuela should be, Congress and the public should be able to follow the money.

“Abuse of power which makes by my estimation Donald Trump a domestic enemy of the Constitution. Because my oath is to the Constitution and don't you think for one minute, Mr. Trump, that there aren't millions of other veterans and retirees that feel exactly the same way”
“Basically, you're done, Trump. You're done, Hegseth. It won't be long before you're politically thrown down that dark, deep hole.” - Lieutenant Colonel Malcom Ritchie (retired) from the U.S. Army Reserve. “…. And I'm here today, not as a candidate, making that disclaimer. I am here to express my outrage at the meeting in Quantico, Virginia between Hegseth, Trump, and all of the senior officers in the United States military and the senior NCO corps. Those generals, Admirals, and senior NCOs sat there in stone face silence, listening to the most outrageous speeches ever made in United States military history by the Secretary of Defense and the President of the United States. Secretary of Defense on his this ridiculous rant. Trying to take to school, Generals, Admirals, senior NCOs with 10 times the leadership ability, the education and the experience. that the failed Major Hech could ever begin to understand. And then they have to listen to the cognitively declined President of the United States who I would now name as dictator of the United States. tell all this audience that they will be expected to wage war against the American people. That's exactly what Trump said. So don't get on here and try to tell me that he didn't say it. training grounds in American cities. What's that mean? They're going to go in locked and loaded into American cities, American neighborhoods and use American citizens as pop-up targets on a live fire training. range, This is absolutely astounding. Abuse of power which makes by my estimation Donald Trump a domestic enemy of the Constitution. Because my oath is to the Constitution and don't you think for one minute, Mr. Trump, that there aren't millions of other veterans and retirees that feel exactly the same way. We are enraged, we are beyond enraged, and we will protest peacefully. And we will go out and vote for the candidates of our choice in the 2026 midterm election, which you better not even try to stop. If you try to stop that by force, that's the nightmare scenario. And I'm not saying by violence, I'm saying politically. Basically, you're done, Trump. You're done, Hegseth. It won't be long before you're politically thrown down that dark, deep hole. But don't think it's not going to cause a lot of trauma on the American people, as they clutch to the roots of the hole on the way down, trying to survive something that they cannot possibly survive because this nation is a republic and it will not fall to a fascist regime.”
