How rare is an interim leader winning an election? I could only find one precedent. Not just in Canada - in all Westminster countries at the national or provincial/state levels. Searched UK, Australia, NZ. Just found one. British Columbia in 1952

I asked ChatGPT to depict what a Cheesecake Factory would look like if Saddam Hussein applied his tastes to it and... yeah. This is very Trumpy.
This line is getting praise on X, but it’s actually elitist garbage written by a speechwriter who clearly hasn’t spent much time in a Cheesecake Factory, which has none of the gaudy Trump aesthetic, and just feels good to say because it represents flyover MAGA “night out.”

Having been in these moments, I can visualize the focus group when someone turned the whole room against him over his playing tennis, leading to this ad 🤣 I watched a woman turn an entire focus group once over one candidate’s choice of food at a BBQ (sadly never made that ad)
Vivek Ramaswamy is a terrible candidate for many good reasons, including his recent decisions but it is very funny that “loves tennis” is so foregrounded as an insult in this attack ad against him.

Editorial board endorsement are a ridiculous relic of a different era I own a newspaper- that makes me powerful and important So I will tell the pleebs who read my paper who to vote for And they will listen Making me even more powerful None of this is the case today
Oooh - a newspaper editorial board endorsed or didn’t endorsed a candidate? In my lifetime, do you know how many votes I believe have been changed in Canadian elections by an editorial endorsement? That would be zero. None No actual person cares or reads it. Only campaigns

Trump: ‘we have won the war in Iran because they will NEVER have a nuclear weapon’ Bibi: ‘Iran is once again hours away from getting a nuclear weapon…just as I’ve been saying they are for the last 40 years’
BREAKING: Netanyahu says Iran has now restarted its nuclear program and intends to destroy Israel within a short time. "Iran has restarted its nuclear program, and it wants to destroy us within a short time," Netanyahu said an hour ago. IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir has warned that resuming the war this close to Tuesday's election will force the vote to be postponed indefinitely. Netanyahu said on Wednesday that toppling the Iranian regime is now his directive to the IDF and Mossad.

I don't know how teams can Defend Barnes and Kawhi at the same time. They both need Big, athletic and Starting level defenders. Most NBA teams only have 1 People talk 'Double Bigs'...but this Raptor Monster is fast, powerful, athletic and put up a lot of shots. They drive hard

Trying is better than not trying Impossible for the human mind to fully comprehend how this could be true
The DIRECTOR of the MLBPA just admitted that spending gives teams an unfair advantage. Can’t wait for the mental gymnastics to try to defend this one

Everyone understands this is the main (only?) reason for the merger, right? To trigger a bonus clause for Elmo
Friend pointed out that if Telsa and SpaceX do merge, it would likely satisfy the "change in control" clause in Musk's comp agreement with TSLA, meaning he gets the payoff without meeting the operational targets.

I have the same as Pollara as of today (10-point lead for Chow). Now, if only people over 55 years of age vote, then Chow and Bradford are statistically tied. Also, Etobicoke York and North York always have better turnout compared to Scarborough, so that also makes it a bit better for Bradford. Regardless, I think Chow wins by more than 5-points. 🤷
New Toronto mayoral poll (Pollara): Olivia Chow 55% Brad Bradford 44% 48% of respondents have positive feelings about Olivia Chow, 36% have positive feelings about Brad Bradford. Chow leads Bradford on working with other levels of government, affordability, safety and taxes.

How dare Canada embrace both Turkey and China Sad seeing a country quite this lost
Canada is lost. This is what the Left does. Socialism at home is never enough. By embracing Communist China, and now Turkey, PM Carney has turned his back on America & made clear that Canada sides with dictators, terrorists & thugs who threaten the security of the U.S. & sovereignty of our allies.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Turkey is a NATO ally of both the United States and Canada since 1952. Official Canadian statements describe the new Strategic Partnership with Türkiye as deepening cooperation between the two NATO allies on trade, energy, defence and security. pm.gc.ca/en/news/statem… cbc.ca/news/politics/… tr.usembassy.gov/the-united-sta…

Everyone knows you can’t win an election in Maine while the price of delicious Canadian seaweed is out of control
Trump is making tariff changes to shore up a Senate race -- Maine Senator Susan Collins, among the most endangered GOP senators in this cycle, announces that nine categories of products will be exempted from Trump's tariffs on Canada.

If it feels like almost every sports event in the last year or so has been the ‘most-watched X in history’, it’s because Nielsen changed how they count viewers so it’s a cool press release but a pretty meaningless comparison
BREAKING: Sixers vs. Knicks was the most-watched prime-time opening night game in NBA HISTORY — peaking at 9.1 million viewers, per @NBAPR

with 12 days until the midterm elections, the entire republican party has coalesced around attacking a woman for having been raped by her stepfather when she was twelve
Trump: "Vivek Ramaswamy put up a very powerful Ad about a mother saying that her daughter, Amy Acton, who is running for Governor of Ohio, is a liar, and much worse. The Press, in a concerted and well coordinated attack, is trying to get Vivek Ramaswamy to 'take down the Ad.' Frankly, anybody whose mother spoke about a daughter in that way would normally lead to the daughter being precluded from serving in Office"

40% of patients suffering from dementia have “VBD” (vocally disruptive behavior) They are sudden, disruptive and surprising to the patient. Which is why he seems stunned for a moment. The reason they keep giving him the MoCA test, is they know he is in severe cognitive decline. He is a national security risk.
Trump makes an indescribable sound effect: "I'd say 90% of the reason I took the governor-- EUHHH"
