People like focusing on obscure risks like getting struck by lightning, not slipping in their bathtub and breaking their neck. It makes them feel more productive putting up lightning rods on their house vs. a mat in their bathroom.

Alexander Hamilton fought anti-automation and pro-import arguments in the 1700s that hardly differ from the modern day.

It's unconscionable that lawyers are immune to noncompetes while also enforcing this anti-worker, pro-ownership, anti-American law on junior know, edge workers making 5 figures

Yes, legal. USPS permits mailing cash for legitimate purposes like this. Unsolicited promotional gifts (including cash) can be kept free under federal law—no payment or return required. Just creative marketing from Monaco.

My pet theory is that most companies should staff HR not with HR specialists who believe their own BS but with the dead wood technical/business specialists with a lot of domain knowledge but who have run out of gas being productive

Am I the only one who thinks it’s insane that we allow two stroke engine leaf blowers to operate in residential areas? Why do so many otherwise sensible people not recognize the extreme externality of that noise? On some of the most beautiful days of the year it’s practically impossible to be outside without exposure to 75-80db of droning noise.

The closest to a metric for exploits of vulnerabilities we have is KEV. If you look at the number of new KEV reported over time, the needle has barely moved since AI became mainstream, even if the number of CVE skyrockets.

Ok. I need to say it. I want to be able to sit on my gorgeous deck and not listen to Sponge Bob from my neighbors outdoor TV. Outdoor TVs are great for those watching but they’re the same as the guy who doesn’t use headphones on the airplane. Obnoxious!

Absolutely. Everyone who starts in cyber first goes “oh my god we are all going to die” then over time has to learn why that’s not true *despite all the problems*

But there’s a reason for this, you see: the CISO and security organization was focused on *product* security. But the bad things happened on the research side of the org. Nobody thought that infra security needed to focus on the research side, in Spring 2026.

Not enough people are seriously trying to reconcile the two facts: - models can now resolve Millennium Problems - annualized US GDP growth is at 1.5%

You really really should read this: rootevidence.com/resources/w… It fully refutes, with data, the entire premise of the chart. Charting the delays between an exploit being utilized and NVD publishing has nothing at all to do with when they were patched.

Hmm most people I know were classically trained hackers who spent their formative years studying under the great European masters of buffer overflows.

Anthropic really cleaned up my timeline. Everyone who was an expert in cyber last week is now an expert in biology, and it appears the people who are actually experts in that space have quite a lot to say about the recent Anthropic research.
