I call it 'The Hyperdrive Problem', and I realized it while playing Star Wars: The Old Republic:
Imagine, if you will, a Sith Lord is in hyperspace chasing after his quarry and one of his men goes up to the Sith and supplicates himself to his master. If they continue using the hyperdrive engine any longer, the ship will just explode. They need to exit hyperspace and do some quick repairs and things will be right as rain to continue.
The Sith promptly kills the man for doubting that his power as a Sith won't see them all victorious. No one else dares raise a voice, and the Sith in fact orders all power diverted to the hyperdrive.
The ship explodes. Everyone dies.
Everything the Sith did, though, followed all understood Sith tenants. He was a true Sith, up to the point he was vaporized in the explosion.
Being a true Sith means never once questioning your own power. That would mean employing something approaching 'discipline' or 'temperance' or 'wisdom'. It's not enough that you make the Sith decision; but you have to REBUKE ALL THE OTHER CHOICES BECAUSE THEY WILL LEAD YOU AWAY FROM BEING A TRUE SITH.
A true Sith will NEVER acknowledge that the hyperdrive is going to explode. Any Sith that does has taken a backwards step from BEING a Sith.

Dude had EVERYTHING. Literal superpowers, a gorgeous, wealthy, powerful wife, loyal friends, and a servant droid.
Then some creepy old politician promised him he could save everyone he loved.
So Anakin murdered children, choked his pregnant wife, tried to kill his best friend, and lost everything.
And the old man couldn't even deliver on his promise.
Congratulations. You traded your entire life for a miserable, thankless government job working for the guy who screwed you over.
