My thoughts about this new potential discovery of dark matter: Yinz know how there've been successful searches in physics for things that we expected to find based on theory? Like, we expected from theory to find the top quark, and then years later we actually did find it. 1/

Because there are currently a lot of posts circulating about civil protection. This is not a new recommendation from many governments. In Germany, there have been recommendations for years to keep a supply of water, non-perishable food, medicines and other essential items at home. This does not automatically mean that a specific disaster is imminent. According to its own information, the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) has been issuing recommendations on personal emergency preparedness since its establishment in 2004. These are updated regularly. In October 2025, the BBK published a thoroughly revised guide. In addition to extreme weather and power cuts, it explicitly addresses cyber-attacks, sabotage, energy shortages and even war. The agency explains that the revision is based on the public’s current information needs. More info: bbk.bund.de/DE/Warnung-Vorso…

Meet our Solar System's newest dwarf planet candidate: 2026 ED138! Orbiting past Pluto, scientists found it in NSF–DOE Rubin Observatory data from earlier in 2026. Early analysis suggests it's 600–1500 km across, one of the largest found past Neptune! 🔗 rubinobservatory.org/news/ru…
